Default Remap

Hey everyone, pretty new to subarus despite being a mechanic for 8 years just wanted some info on whether it's safe to map my 135k mile engine on my 03 blobeye wrx or whether it would s*** itself into oblivion and if its all good who comes highly recommended for a custom map. Cheers

There are never any guarantees with remaps (or indeed standard engines), but if the engine seems otherwise healthy I wouldn't hesitate myself.

I like the way Neil @ Slowboy-racing at Brands Hatch works. Seems like a no BS, down to earth kind of guy, and he has been around Subarus for a very long time.

His homepage at https://www.slowboy-racing.co.uk/index seems to suggest it's about 350 to get a remap.

Another vote for Neil. Great, down to earth guy that's very upfront about everything.

Thanks for the recomendation, Duncan at racedynamix comes highly recommended but he wants 430 for a dyno and map so I'll give Neil a ring thanks mate

I have had an FSTi mapped by Neil and he was very good, just be aware that Neil road maps which is not a problem but just giving you all the facts

I have had my 330s remapped by Martyn Jeffery after and engine rebuild and he was also excellent, main difference this was done on a RR.

Cant comment as he has never mapped a car for me, however there does seem to be a few people claiming that he has caused issues, unless you go to Surrey Rolling Road of course who will tell you he walks on water but thats because he uses their RR.

This is why I use Engine Tuner everything is under one roof, they have all their own technicians, rolling road and mapper, so if there is an issue it can be sorted with the right kit, rather than in Surrey RRs car park.

Same can be said for Neil he has his own workshop and technician so again any issues can be dealt with correctly.

his practises are bad, doesnt road test after dyno maps, claims he can map round faults, rushes to get 10 cars done in a day etc etc etc
