ive been told its bomb proof aswell but whenever ive had cambelts done on impreza's i always get the front crank oil seal done along with an oil pump check over and a new water pump/full timing kit.

yes it may be overkill but i would be pretty pissed off if the bearings failed in the waterpump throwing the belt off causing catastrophic engine damage because i failed to replace a £50 part. its a no brainer to me to get it done whilst the belt is off.

nonsense...........nothing but an 'up-sell' from certain retailers

in over 20years i have encountered ONE actual water pump failure and that was on a very low mileage Hatch at less than 3years old!!

our last car we had for 15years and did 3 belt changes and it managed to survive just fine without oil pumps, or any other such additions.........how far we lived on / over the edge!!

Depends on mileage and if its ever been changed.
My W/P failed but only the seal so was weaping from the weap seal.

If never been replaced then id get it done, if it has been changed at say the last belt change, you should be ok

My classic went to 160,000 miles before I sold it. It was still on original water & oil pumps.
