Default Scoob has made my M3 redundant

After loving my M3 for 2 years i just put it on Ebay for sale. The Scooby is just such a weapon it makes the M3 feel a bit dull. Realising im not going to want to drive it much it might as well go and i will spend some money on a power upgrade

Are both cars running standard power? Tell us more (pros and cons), how does the Impreza compare to the M3 (I'm guessing you're referring to an E46)?

An M3 is a very quick car, very capable and gives off a great noise. A friend of mine has one with a straight through system and it sounds almost evil ! For me , and it sounds like you as well , the Scooby makes a journey more of an event, more drama , the feel , power delivery , grip make it more enjoyable for country blasts. Scooby doo all the way !
Ps, if your M3 is a good one , you will sell it no problem at all , they like the Subaru’s have a huge following.
Speeds.👍🏻🏎

I owned both at the same time. Different beasts, altogether. Both running similar power.

M3 was lovely to live with day to day, it just does everything well. But the Impreza was more of an event to drive.

I’d by the local courthouse and the folk coming out in joggers would look at the Impreza, the suits would look at the M3.

I’ve got two Scooby’s a blob sti ppp and a jdm hawk wagon,I’ve also got a Z 4 m coupe which has the s54 motor which I think it shares with some m3 models, not really into the Beemers but the Z 4 is a bit special,it looks so nice and it handles as well as a stock scooby in fact better, sounds great when I open it up but no where near as good as my scoobies and I enjoy the scooby more but still love the M coupe and yes it is more of an event in the scoob even though the M is a great car and bloody quick,I find most cars out there now days are quite boring and if I was in the market for a new car I wouldn’t have a clue wot I’d go for and to be honest the M and the scoobs both do it for me
Did I mention my Datsun 260 Z

The M3 is running about 440 bhp with quite a few mods as well and the Sti is about 345bhp With the M3 all the power is higher up and its quite long geared, its not slow by any means but the car feels heavy and big compared with the Sti. I think i like the Sti more because its more of a raw experience and it feels lighter and quicker than the BM even with 100bhp less

the M coupe is just standard ,You don’t have to touch em they are just like the M3 ready and willing straight out of the crate, bit of whitesnake there ha ha
had a forester try it on the other day but a forester is not going to get near the M,it will outpace, outbrake and outhandle any standard forester, but it’s al good fun

Three decades owning a car? Wow, that's a labour of love. Do you have a build thread online anywhere? Would love to see more pics.

The Z4MC is a bit of a sleeper. People don't expect them to be quick but soon realise when they see you disappear into the distance.

I’ve not really had to rebuild it ,I’ve had a couple of resprays when it’s got scratched to f—k apart from that just the bits I mentioned ,I Paid £2600 for it and the insurance co have put the valuation up this year from £2600 to £37500
As for the M it’s a really low mileage car I was looking at the Z3 M coupe 10-13 years ago they were about 16 grand average if you got one with the S54 motor like the Z4 then they are going for fifty five grand or more
Wont mention the Lotus cortinas

Performance figures for the M coupe - 155 mph limited and 0-60 4.5 seconds an that’s before you start messing with em
The Datsun with th 3.1 motor was 0-60 4.5 seconds but I was only running at 257 bhp the motor was built for 320 but we brought the power down and give it more torque,It’s now fitted with the new Rebello 3.2 motor which was bench tested using carbs and pushed out 321 bhp at 600 revs I’m running throttle bodies so can expect another 20-30 bhp on top of that but it was done in the states so true figure I reckon wil be around 300-320 bhp as our rolling roads don’t exaggerate like the yanks in more ways than one, just have to put the lamba sensor and crank damper on fill with oil that contains enough Zinc and fire it up
As much as I like the Datsun and the M coupe I still love both my scoobies just that little bit more until I get in the Datsun or the M then it changes, then it changes again and again and again, bit of Quo there somewhere ha ha I’m just lucky really to have all these toys but then that’s wot we go to work for in it

The Datsun is how I got it all those years ago really no major bodywork needed all I’ve done is wot I’ve mentioned above in stages and made it quicker and put modern technology into n the engine whilst keeping it looking standard ,just remembered, the previous owner put one of them glass sunroofs in about six weeks before I got it so that had to go as they weaken the structure oN the datsuns not like the webastos they are ok,so I got a new roof skin from Nissan and a new wing as the paint was bubbling as were the arches so had them rolled then painted and that’s it really not a restore just keeping on top of it,had two 240 Z s at the same time f the 260 ownership but the late 260 is a much rarerer car than a 240
I had a 260 before this one then got a brand new RS turbo escort was trying to sell the rs to get another Datsun then someone nicked it off me driveway,as my mate got it for me on the ford ticket which worked out about three grand cheaper I got back wot I paid for it after a year so not all bad
And now I’m gonner get my wagon loaded up with the sevice items I’ve got and it’s getting a full service and 24 mm front anti roll bar and new drop links put on tomoz
if anyone is up near Stansted with an M3 I’d love a ride in one as keep toying with the idea but not sure which one to go for as not really into BMs as it seems that everyone and his dog has one,I still keep looking at them though
