Power steering fluid

Power steering fluid
Hi all,
2007 STi.
Looks easy enough to change the power steering fluid.
Can anyone suggest which fluid to use? I'd perhaps order from Amazon or Opie.
I will check for leaks and may do the O ring on top of the pump whilst I'm there...
Many Thanks

Hi ,
Dexron 111, worth doing the rubber seal it’s about 6£ from import car parts , careful when you screw the bolt back down as the aluminium pipe can be weak , the aluminium pipe needs to be properly seated first , it’s worth doing the top rubber hose to the aluminium pipe whilst you have it off , the way i changed the fluid was syringe the old stuff out , fill it work the pump , syringe out , i did that about three times till the fluid was clear , it’s surprising how dirty it was , the pipe and seal are good preventative maintenance as pumps are ££ and sometimes difficult to source 👍

Dexron lll now arrived from Opie.
Can I do this tomorrow when everything is cold, or does this need to be done after a drive when the fluid is I assume warm?
I'll be removing the old fluid with an oil vacuum that croc clips onto the battery, very good little pump from Pidl it was.
Also, can I do a few lock to locks with the front wheels on the gravel drive? I've seen a video on YouTube (Mr Subaru) and he has his Fozzie up on axle stands....I don't need to have the front wheels up surely do I ?
Thanks in advance, Matt.

Take it for a small drive , fine to do it when it’s cold , and i did not jack it i just did lock to lock on the drive , i emptied and re filled about three times till the fluid looked a lot cleaner it’s a very easy quick job , a bit longer if you do the seal and or pipe but be very careful how you screw the metal L shaped pipe down after

I did mine with the wheels on the drive, siphoned out with a big syringe, top up, lock to lock a few times, syphon out, refill and repeat until what's coming out is the same colour as what's going in, if you do it with the engine running don't take out too much at a time as the pump needs to have something to circulate otherwise it makes nasty noises.

I have a litre to play with, so hopefully enough - to at least flush most of the old stuff out anyway.

Done.
Did 3 flushes in the end. The old stuff was grubby at worst, but least it's done now.
Not been flushed in the 8 years / 70k miles since I've had the car....at least I don't think so anyway.
No funny noises, air bubbles, or leaks, so happy days.

I thought my pump was on its way out as it was getting noisy, turns out the 17 year old fluid was past its best, it's now nice and quiet again. Also did a clutch fluid change, the Reservoir on the classic sits right above the turbo and I'd notice the clutch peddle would get really hard if sat in traffic, again I think it was the original fluid so a change of that fixed another problem.

Bonnet linings 🤣 , clutch fluid on the new shapes there is a little bleed screw same set up , same as the brakes , i sucked out the old stuff and replaced , i felt that would be enough as the bleed screw did not look like it would remove much more fluid that what i had done any way
