even some of the paid ones are crap so wouldn't trust a free one. I did an RAC one (£15) and it gave me a complete bum steer on a car. Said it was a write off but it was a private reg the write off was for , not the car. I got a couple of people in the trade to do it for me from my local car forum. Otherwise I wouldn't have bought the car that was perfectly fine.

 

Car Analytics often do some offers - I've used them for half a dozen cars I've bought as the info is the same as HPI / Experian but <often> a lot cheaper
