Default PCV Valve

I recently purchased a new PCV Valve as the cars getting on a bit and I have the dreaded rhs rocker cover oil leak.

It arrived and I took out the intercooler and searched for the PCV Valve but realised I'd made a mistake and got the wrong one. I have a 2004 WRX so I thought it'd fit. It appears I need the other type.

I've now ordered another replacement but a. Where did I go wrong, what car is this PCV Valve for?
B. If it definitely is of no use to me, is anybody else able to make use of it?

The one in your picture is for US models which have the pcv oil sensor (white object in picture below).

I was very confused when I had it all apart, thanks for clearing that up Don.

So, who needs a US PCV Valve? There's really no point in trying to return it.
