Default Seat position

Just purchased a JDM Hawk STI.

It has an aftermarket seat (Recaro) and being a big guy (6ft4) it's a tight fit. I need to sit a good bit lower in the car.

Anyone any experience of this? Doesn't need to be an OEM solution, don't mind buying an aftermarket seat.

Thanks!

Congrats on the new purchase. Brilliant cars.

Chuck up some pics of the Recaro. If its a fixed bucket you may be able to adjust the side mount brackets to sit the seat lower. If its a reclining one it may well be the fact you need to seek a lower seat rail depending whats fitted to it already.
I have Recaro SPGs fixed buckets in my Hawk and they are on the lowest setting it can go. I'm about 6ft1.

It is a reclining seat, not fixed. I'll throw some images up. The car was imported with the rail and seat, appears to be a genuine RECARO frame/rail which at a quick google isn't readily available in the UK.

Yep, I think I need a lower rail.

Thanks, good to know. There isn't much room in these at all. I came from a Megane RS250 Cup and sat in the Recaro CS seats just fine.

Thanks mate, great help. Can I ask where you purchased them from?

How do you and your mate sit then? Comfy enough? I feeling like I'm driving with my knees at the moment!!

** sorry, just realised the seat is decent but your looking for a lower rail, is that right?

Looks to be a DC2 style Recaro, aka SR3.

I bought rails from AS Performance. Said they were Buddyclub but they came as M2 products, I assume same manufacturer?
I am able to lower the whole seat using the side mount bracket. If you are looking at lower rails just make sure they are compatible with a Recaro SR3. They are bolted onto the rail from underneath instead of sidemounted like fixed buckets.

There are a few rails I know from the top of my head such as HKS Kansai, Bride and Recaros and obviously Buddyclub/M2 amongst many others if you look out there.

EDIT: If memory serves me right the seat is bolted to a black box section of metal which is then bolted to the rail. You can see it in the 2nd picture you posted, this is where you will be able to lose some height. It looks similar to the one a friend needed to use on getting SR3's to fit his EP3. If that bar was smaller you'd lose some height. If you dont mind an alternative DIY solution , you'd need to take it apart to confirm but if you made some measurements and just got a cheap bit of box section you could drill some holes and paint it black for waaaaaaaaaaay less than a whole new rail.

Thanks mate. Interesting re M2 and Buddyclub being the same product. I'm planning on selling the SR3 with Recaro rail (no idea how much for) and getting a side mounted seat on a lower rail.
