Default How many cats in blobeye wrx?

I was in a car repair place today when a guy cam in to buy the "cat dust" from converters. I have a blobeye original full exhaust in my garage. Is it three cats? Do I have to crack the heat shielding off to see serial numbers, anyone know? Some good money to be had from converters now it seems.

I sold my 05 blob downpipe and uppipe for 60 quid at a scrap yard about 4 years ago.
took them ages to call whoever buys them.from them to work out what and how much they were worth.
Mine didn't have 2nd cat in downpipe.
Heatshield is there but cat isn't.
You will be able to visually see it if its there.
so one in uppipe and one in downpipe.

My Blobeye WRX is a JDM and, to my surprise, only had two cats: One in the downpipe and one in the centre section (now removed).

new-age UK 2.0 WRX has a pre-cat in the up-pipe and then a 2piece downpipe with a cat in each section...........

The PPP cat might not be worth as much as a scrap converter, but I recently sold 2x centre cats (80 each), an up-pipe cat (50) and a downpipe cat (the standard one) for 350.

Makes me cry when I remember I've binned 2x downpipe cats because I didn't know what to do with them (though this is going back several years)

Right thanks, yes I had a feeling it was three. Valuable metals in there so I suppose if you go round gathering catalytic converters can accumulate good value. I'll knock the heat shielding off and see if there are any ref numbers. I'm sure in the past I have left the whole exhaust system at the garage that fitted. Hang on to your cats!!

Yeah, this bloke reckoned some cats could be worth up to £400. Offered £5 for used car battery which is better than taking it to the tip.

There are indeed, on both the centre and up-pipe cats, stamped on to the "ears". Mine needed a good scrub with a sponge to find.

Don't take cats to scrappy they offer nothing. My recycling place gives me £12 a car battery.

Sounds like you were. Standard cat to a Subaru owner has to be worth £150 at least. Don't sell to scrap guys coming to your garage. They won't give you much.

My mate works at a hospital and they were having letters handed around, saying if you had a few yea old Honda be careful as they were being targeted by theifs.

Newage Impreza's have 2 cats.

Yes I've heard they are being stolen now. Codes I believe for 2003 blobeye WRX cats are:

PCFE1 2Z19
RCFE2 2Z19
FCFE6 2Z23

The bloke I was talking to rang me again next day to offer me £100 then £120 max - cutting his own throat. I'll try get some more quotes.

I got £482 for the pair of my FSTi cats, roughly £400 for the DP and £82 for the centre based on other quotes.

The centre cat number is stamped on the plate between the heat shields.

Try facebook market place and get a few quotes.

Well good people of Scoobynet. I e-mailed a few scrap metal companies yesterday and did the generic "Scrappy" site. I e-mailed Global Refine in Doncaster, but they picked up my query also from Scrappy. For the blobeye cats I think in order: up, mid, down

£35 PCFE1 2Z19
£110 RCFE2 2Z19
£350 FCE6 2Z23

Collected today and they arrange a bank transfer immediately to you. I am annoyed I haven't kept more cats over the years though values are much higher now. Apparently best ones are Honda.

Any idea if the cat values are factored into priced when scrapping a complete car?

If you can buy a car for £100 knowing the cats in it are worth £300......

Don't think so as some don't have the original cats
