Greetings all

My alarm has the potential for a remote boot release, having a pretty little button on the key fob . However, it needs some sort of actuator gizmo fitted to the boot mechanism, which the alarm can then activate.

Therefore the million dollar question(s) is what is this gizmo, how much is it, where do I get it, how do I fit it/wire it etc?

Once this is fitted, I can then get the alarm installer to join the alarm to this wonderfull time saving contraption

Any help gratefully appreciated

You need a fairly long throw solenoid that preferably ends in a bit of wire cable, a power supply from the battery (as these draw a shedload of current - far more than the alarm will supply) and a meaty diode or two to prevent the back EMF of the coil on the solenoid frying the alarm's outputs.

Clifford make a kit that's around 70 quid fitted. To be honest, I'd just go with that as it works.

Make sure your installer knows his onions and uses a diode, otherwise hell will ensue.

My Clifford dealer told me it would be around £100, suffice to say I still open the drivers door, then pull the lever for putting the golf clubs in.

Just tell the wife to go an open it for you. You tech geeks always try and do things the hard way.
