Big shame when Monkfish closed , the next best option is Topcats in aylesbury or Walkinshaw uk , if you are up north then it’s AS performance there are quite a few others , the pistonheads hsv site is good or facebook 👍

the monaro is on 440 bhp , plus lots of mods , the previous bloke got it tuned so it’s putting out an extra 100 bhp on a na engine , and can still do either 61 miles to a 75 litre tank or average 35 mpg , the other one is an hsv maloo , it was built as a race car with fire extinguisher and roll cage , it’s again na and running 500 bhp , again as above boot it silly mpg long run around 35 mpg so over 550 miles to a tank , monaro is a nicer car to drive the looks and grunt of the maloo are it’s main features

both engines are very common , as shared with many makes of cars in usa or au , you can buy a tuned crate engine for 5500 upwards , diffs are easy too , gearbox can be bought at 5500£ ish , there is a big us supply chain , the more difficult bits are trim and bits like that , if i order from usa it’s normally here within 5 days , parts are cheap oil filters 3.50 £ a set of 8 platinum plugs and leads work out similar to a scooby , at 500 bhp the engines are not stressed , one chap running 1200 bhp out of a 6 litre twin turbo , bolt a supercharger on its not cheap 9 k£ but is an easy 630 bhp after that you need to change the fuel pump , many cars running 700 bhp plus , only downside is it’s just rwd , monaro is like a scooby it’s old school and fun to drive , it’s way louder than my fairly loud scooby 👍😂

very little , unless it’s a vf model the interiors between a late 6 litre and early 6.2 are the same , there was a slight change between a ve2 and a ve 3 models mainly in driver control ie traction control settings plus the bi modal exhaust , ls3 the 6.2 engine is in theory better built and uses same amount of fuel as a 6 litre engine , performance wise nothing much in it , 415 v 425 bhp , on a drag run the 6.2 is a bit quicker , my friend had a tuned ££ 6 litre , my standard ish 6.2 was about 2 miles an hour quicker over a 1 mile drag , 155mph from standstill , off the line very little in it as it’s a traction issue , it’s probably only a mild breathing improvement at higher speed , generally very reliable easy to service plus cheap to service , 16 litres of coolant 8.2 litres of mobil 1 , one chap has a dual air intake 7.4 litre engine which hit 170 mph in a one mile drag , scooby more nimble but the monaro is a lot of fun , the mrs hears me on my way home about two miles away 😂 bi modal exhaust on the vxr8 is very nice so it goes from very loud to a light burble , best sounding car is the 5.7 monaro single exit exhaust , the foot pound difference between a v8 and a scooby is considerable but being a heavier car the 60 time is very similar but does not run out of puff till 175 mph plus , motorway idle on the v8 is a lot less , plus it’s amusing doing 50mph plus in first gear 😂

SHREKSTA,am I missing something here?!
I have only been a member here for just over a year and although I don’t know anyone on here personally, I have scanned through the forum questions and answers back to 2015, sometimes for info, other times to read about the fights between members etc! However, I have noticed that you were involved in lots of chats and I think you had a couple of Scoobies at once so I assumed you did love your Subaru’s but I just read that you now have none?!
Something must’ve happened and going by your questions on this topic, sounds like your pennies could be going into a v8...........

I have 2 blobs.
The first is a Spec C Type RA which is unmodified currently on 33k miles.
The other is a highly modified UK STi running a 2.1 stroker and pushing out 460hp. Even though it’s a UK car it is very clean having only 46k miles on it.
They’re both great in their own way.
I do hanker for a 2 door or RA classic though and that may be an itch I need to scratch this year.

Two and bit. Got my Hawkeye R Sport Wagon and a Bugeye WRX Wagon that's currently a bare shell but it is all there, honest. Mum also has an 06 Forester which is nice for a bit of comfort and a good mate has a Legacy GTB which is rather nice too.

I still love subarus and have toyed with getting a my15 shape but with us being forced to go electric in 9 years time I don't wanna look back and regret not owning other cars I like just because I stuck to one brand.
top of my list at the minute is a bmw f10 m5 competition pack BUT although I can afford to buy one,the deeper I look into running costs the more I'm steered away from one,I would probably have one through bmw with a warranty then sell it on when warranty expires but that means leaving it standard and with 700bhp available from just a remap I'm not sure I could leave it standard.
other cars on my list are the jaguar xfr 5.0 supercharged v8 or the vxr8.
nothing else really floats my boat apart from a Nissan gtr but being just over 6ft 8 tall I won't fit in one,it was a tight enough squeeze in the scoob.
I like the jeep grand cherokee srt 6.4 v8 however getting parts may prove difficult.
not many more cars float my boat to be honest,I do really like the new skoda octavia vrs 2021 shape I think it looks superb in and out but with only 245bhp I feel that sort of power is so 2004,disappointing really as they have all the parts at their disposal of making a 300bhp+ car.
God knows what I will end up with, for the time being I'm happy sitting on the cash whilst we are still in the grip of covid and smoking around in my £1500 jeep grand cherokee which is the most reliable car I've ever had.

2 door and RA prices have gone though the roof in recent months ,, rusted out 2 doors are changing hands for £15k+ now

Id consider a 4 door RA model too but they have also shot up.
