Hydraulic Strut Coil Spring Compressor
Any body used one?
Been looking at this Clark one, think its powerful enough for the Impreza springs.

What size are Impreza springs? As that's all I'd be using it for really.
Can be used for springs up to 400mm diameter & 520mm in length

What set have you got as mine are rubbish?
quote=Vxr2010]or just buy the cheaper option spring compressor, the two hooks with threaded bar in the middle type , they are 20£ or so and work on all of them , had mine for years never had an issue [/quote]

The threaded bar hook ones are bloody hard work as you need to **** about getting the hooks in, then hold and brace it while you crank it,
Buy one the hydraulic types.

Cheers bud, sounds a good plan. yea i have them and not a fan, hard to get them to grip on the spring> spring was going on side ways lol.

I used those and the single hook for years, but decided to buy one of these a while back, just the 90 quid jobs off ebay, its a dream, makes the job so much easier, fully adjustable,

Jay mate.. this seems like overkill unless you’re doing a tonne of spring changes.. I use one of these for compressing wind turbine dampers.. but we do a load of them and they’re all the same
size.
if you get a set suitable set of cups for them to fit the Impreza spring, the press will do the job no problem: but I don’t think it’s value for money unless you’re using it for work to doing a whole load of them.
persevere with the cheap manual compressors imo.

If you use this style with clips that prevent it from slipping off, and take it slowly and methodically they're ok, one on each side and compress the spring evenly:
Clarke CHT224 3 piece Coil Spring Compressor - Machine Mart - Machine Mart
The more traditional style with two hooks at each end but no clip are a bit dodgier as you can't always get both hooks in and they can slip off, particularly on new springs.

Cheers they don't look to bad, but only £45 off the big spring compressors. Might try watch a Youtube video, see how easy to work.
Although i do look of these that were posted
