6MT Quick Short Shift - 2 different part numbers?!
Hello Scooby fam,
I would like to get a short shift assembly for a V7 STI transmission. but I've found 2 different part numbers on the internet and was wondering which is the right one.
There is this one - C1010FE000:
And there's this one - ST350104S030:
Both pictures are just the ones I found on Google. They're not necessarily accurate.
Does anyone know what the difference between the two is? They are both suited to fit up to 07 STI models.
Thanks,
ET

It seems C1010FE000 is now C1010FE004 which also replaces ST350104S030.
Why not just get a short shift lever rather than the whole shabang.
Same 6MT lever fitted from MY02 thro MY05 in Europe and from MY04 in the US
https://www.kartboy.com/collections/...-6-spd-shifter
or with the bushes.....
https://www.kartboy.com/collections/...ucts/sti-combo
Both also available from https://www.jm-imports-store.co.uk/kartboy-en/
Unless of cause you don't have an existing 6MT shifter

I managed to get my hands on a 2nd hand bare transmission, so I need to get all the auxiliaries to install it in the car.
So, basically what makes the kit a "quick shift" is only the lever itself? The rest of the mechanism is the same for all 02-05 STI models?

Yep - The distance between pivot and linkage is altered
The kartboy version also reduces the height of the lever which I find more to my liking.
There are various other options/manufacturers out there: Turn in Concepts, Perrin, Cobb to name but a few

Got it!
As usual, thanks for all the quality information Don!

I was mainly interested to understand the difference between the two part number I found online.
Also, wanted to understand what makes the assembly a "quick shift". If it's only the lever itself that makes the difference, then I suppose upgrading to an aftermarket short shift level and firmer bushings would probably be a better option and more adjustable.

I think in the case of the STI short shifter that most of the difference is in the linkage and not in the gear lever. But searching some forums people seem to be happier with a stock linkage and a kartboy shifter. It may be cheaper to source those parts. I find the shift between 2nd and 3rd a bit difficult with the Spec C shifter but I haven't driven one with the stock linkage. Also I'm used to lhd cars but the 5 speed Type R gearbox/shifter was nicer.
I'm exactly in the process of going from a 5 speed gearbox (which I really like the feel) to a 6 speed. I want to try and replicate the feeling as much a possible.
Will report how it feels once installed!
