Default Smell of FUEL

Hi all , recently had my car back from engine build deove it around 5 or 6 times since nor used very much

But has a fuel smell like neat petrol the builder wouldn't let it go being in. A bad shape also has been mapped and found no issues

I had rcm billet parallel rails
1050cc rcm injectors
Rcm catCh can
rcm fpr
Rcm fuel pump
Also fresh fuel filter

Basically all rcm bit of a tart for it

But the fuel smell is terrible is this just something normal with these mods
Also I cleaned the engine bay , there is no visible signs of a leak anywhere around the injectors or filter or fpr

Have you tried to locate where its coming from by sniffing around the engine or from under the dash?

Could also possibly be one of the charcol cannisters with the hose either split or come off?

You could check the pollen filter which is behind the glove box.

But if it was me i would be contacting my engine builder and let them know, if thats not possible at least take it to a garage to rule out anything dangerous, a fuel smell/leak isnt something to ignore.

I have a few pics of it not really clear but some of you can get the drift bit better where it maybe leaking from? Can see a little puddle shinning in the pic

I had a fuel leak on my MY00 in one of the braided fuel lines, the rubber tube inside had split and you could not see it or the fuel leak until you started it up then you could see the fuel spraying out onto the bonnet.

Changed the braided line and the problem and smell went away. I was lucky the car didn't go up in flames the amount of fuel spraying out when the engine was running.

My old car had a catch can which vented under the bonnet. I used to get a fuel smell so bad that if I was out in it for a couple of hours I'd have to change my clothes when I got home. Even felt a bit light headed. Bob Rawle saw it and couldn't believe I'd been driving around like that. I then had it routed under the car so it vented out the back and it went away. You can see the blue silicone pipe in the second picture (it should be black but they must have run out of it!)

Maybe check the fuel connections under the back seat too, petrol smell carries around the inside of the car.

Hi, did you change the braided lines for braided lines again?
