I use Cuvva. From 1 hour upwards. Fantastic for safe test drives.

Not for my car, but my kids use it so they can use other cars, and I've used it for test driving cars.
At best, general insurance policies will cover you 3rd party on someone else's car, and at worst not at all, so why would anyone let a stranger test drive their pride and joy? Even in a no fault accident the owner would be crucified.

I've used it before, but it's pointless unless it's for a test drive, if you want it to get a car home etc take out a normal policy then cancel before 14 days and you just have to pay a small fee, workout loads cheaper than a day insurance.

But that won't work if you need cover to get a car mot'd as normal insurance doesn't cover an un-mot'd or untaxed car.

When you say they don't cover, do you mean they won't insure the car or won't pay out if it's crashed?

Does one day insurance cover it?

In my experience, SOME one-day cover does cover for mot (on an untaxed /un-mot'd car) but you've really got to read the small print.... Or wing it, knowing that any police check won't show a small detail like that. 🤞

I think you can drive to mot without tax but not with out insurance.
In this instance the car is not old enough to need an mot.... It belonged to my old man who died in april and left it to me.
Please put me right if ive got it wrong.

You can drive to test without tax or mot cause you can't tax it without mot but you have to have insurance

In Lockheed's case, IF the car still has road tax and it hasn't been cashed in, and you just want to drive the car from A to B, then you'd probably get away with 1 day cover
With a clear conscience. But drive carefully!
However, if its not got road tax then you've either got to tax it which you can't do with temp insurance I think you'll find, or get it trailered.

Thanks all i didnt need the cover in the end, the main dealer bought the car back from me for a 1k more than we buy any car quoted.

Good info in this thread and i found the temp car cover industry was much easier to use than i thought, put details in and straight to payment.
I got quoted 38quid for 2 days use it took about 40 seconds.
Cheers all
