Default GB270

Hi, looking to potentially get a second car with a lot more working from home but really want a wagon due to kids and a dog. Having seen a couple of GB270 wagons for sale they seem like a decent option as they are a bit more rare, decent looking and performance looks ok as standard. What are people’s thoughts on them, worth the extra money over a blob wrx wagon?
thanks

Less reliable engine being 2.5, check tax aswell as believe later models had higher tax.

Better performance from the 2.5l engine. Worse reliability from the 2.5l....

What's your budget and performance goals? 2.0l WRX will happily go to ~300bhp with bolts-ons or 320+ with a larger turbo (all STi bolt-on parts and a remap basically)

Alternatively, consider Legacy GT/WR or Forester STi depending on budget.

The 2.5 wrx engine is nowhere near as problematic as the 2.5 sti BUT in the gb270 they cranked the boost and it can have headgasket issues so just check its history

Thanks for the responses. Maybe a 2lt blob wagon would be a safer plus cheaper option. Hard to know what I want until next year as I’m still not sure how often I’ll be back in the office doing a sizeable commute. If I’m mostly at home it’s not too bad as it sill be the second vehicle and not used that much. If that’s the case I’m tempted by a blob sti (again) but the wagon would be nice as we now have a dog.
