Default What stereo options do i have on a Sti hatchback ?

I'll put a pic of the current stereo thats in the car below, its in a 2008 Sti Hatchback, UK version. It maybe a good time to change as the current stereo powers on but their is no sound, it's possibly a wire thats grounding somewhere, i'll check that out at a later time as i'm quite happy listening to the exhaust playing some nice tunes at the min.

I've seen in cars like the 330S they have a better system with a DVD player and DAB etc, can you fit one of those into a normal Sti hatch, if so what's the model number, or if their any other better options that will fit into the same space feel free to suggest anything. Any idea what that round **** type thing is on the stereo, is that something the previous owner stuck on as i don't want to pull on it just incase its part of the original stereo.

Yeh that was my first thought, its just ive not seen the stock stereo before so didn't want to go pulling at it. I would have wanted to upgrade the stereo at some point anyway so this is a good opportunity to do it as its got to come out anyway to see why their is no sound.

Thanks, it maybe a speaker cable thats grounding out, i'll test the speakers one by one by removing the cables one at a time to see if one of them is the culprit.

Standard UK STI Hatch 86201FG341/86201FG342 (an "oversize" Double DIN Clarion model with 6 CD changer)

Standard 330s Hatch with Nav unit 86271SC020 (oversize Double Din Kenwood unit) MY10 86271SC121

Cars with "Factory fitted" Navi units have different wiring looms fitted to accomodate additional inputs (GPS, speed input etc).

MY11 on Clarion 86201FG320

Any normal Double Din unit can be fitted but the gap around the unit will look odd if the original trim is kept.

You can either go OEM as JDM model is true double DIN size trim

or aftermaket (some do complete replacement others just a filler piece)

To keep the steering wheel controls you would need a suitable kit for the H/U of your choice

Fit whatever you want. It's just a double din slot. Do you have a budget?
