Default what to buy

Hello all

i'm looking at getting another scooby in the new year and not sure whats best to get that will relativly hold its value

i do about 750 - 1000 miles year so the scooby is going to be a weekend toy at most

my issue is i dont know what to get

i'm after a dccd model so blob wide and hawk sti but not sure what to get whether it be a JDM sti/spec C or stick to uk and get blob or hawk wide track

it will be relativly low mileage and owners if i can

modifeid or standard it doesn't matter will have around 15k for one hopefully

let me know what you peeps think would be the best option

A jdm spec c , less chance of engine issues , and if it’s a fresh import then not been subjected to uk roads and uk weather 👍

Rust is a big factor, if you can get a rust free jdm import that would make life easier. I'd most likely go down that route if I got another one.
I personally prefer the UK cars with single scroll / burble, no rear wiper, no folding mirrors, etc.. but it's not a good enough reason to put up with a rust bucket.
There is the odd rust free UK car left, I viewed a lovely widetrack Blobeye last year, always garaged and only driven in the dry but it's the exception and kind of defeats the purpose of an AWD performance car in my view. Good luck with the hunt!

usually rust free jdm costs more than UK, for a money difference You can refresh UK one.
You can single scroll jdm version selling twinscroll setup- You need UK headers ,uppipe exhaust and turbo

Don't be blinded by all the sexy blingy gofaster stuff, you really need to know where you're looking to check for the hidden stealth rot, if any, mainly in the rear turret area, and rear arches, and to do that you really need to either know what to look for, take someone with you who does. Look on youtube for examples, and search this forum too.

Yeah, depends how bad the rust is, the cost adds up quickly. I agree, one can always get a JDM car and build it the way you want.
I'd get the cleanest car I can get and go from there unless you want a restoration project.

Go for a JDM one, i wouldn't touch a UK one again unless it's been restored, most are rust buckets. Even a JDM one tho doesn't guarantee it will come over here rust free, certain parts of Japan have a climate like ours where it snows and they have ice where they put road salt down, do your homework whatever you go for as it will save you money in the long run.
