Question

How much oil is req. for full gearbox drain + replacement, i was going to buy decent semi-synthetic oil as 3rd is a little stiff/crunchy and was told on another thread to replace with decent stuff as std. is crap!

So then, how much in litres/gallons? and what type is best?

Although the book says 4ltrs this will slightly overfill, 3.5 ltrs does the trick (having said that you will still need to buy 4ltrs.!) I am using Silkoline at the moment but have found no improvement in synchro. performance, in fact 4th to 5th now crunches at anything above 4000 rpm I intend to try Castrol Syntrax which was developed for Jap g/boxes (according to Castrol)
Nick - Where can you get the Silkoline for around £7/ltre.? I bought 4ltrs. from ScoobySport for £36.85! Syntrax from Halfords is about the same.

I've got Castrol Syntrax in my gearbox...it does seem to have improved the gear change quality...it's smoother...especially between 2-3 where there used to be a little notchy-ness....There may be a little more noise from the transmission than before but it's hard to tell really..it could just be my imagination!!!!
