Question

Has any one retro fitted air con to a Scooby Turbo?

I have a quote from Subaru of approx £900
and Alternatively the offer of all the a/c parts from a 1998 Impreza Type R? (Does anyone know if the type R parts will fit as a straight swap?)

Any info would be appreciated.

it used to be that all aircon was retro fitted by the dealer - mine was fitted by the dealer (MY00)

900 quid is about right. Dunno about the other stuff tho - suspect it may not go as the imports have a more sophisticated climate control system than the UK/EU spec. Though not a great deal more sophisticated!

Let me know before you purchase any of the gear as I am just about to take out the aircon system from my 1998 Type-R, and I am sure we can do a deal to be cheaper than Subaru. The car has not done 20k yet and the aircon has been rarely used but is all in good working order.

Stay in touch and let me know. I don't know whether it is compatible but of they offered it to you then it should fit.

Stay in touch.

Yes - the Type R stuff will fit

I've even got a manual

Ironically, I had a NEW air-con kit for sale a few weeks back

might still be able to get one if people are interested.....

Thanks for all the info and help!

Now all I need to do is decide if I want to do the job myself or not, as I have an extended warranty...

Thanks again.

Bought a full kit for £170 from a breakers yard for an MY00 car.
Getting fitted in a Subaru dealership for £160 to give a total of £330.
Good saving over £900 for new kit.
