Do you have Thule roofbars on your 4 door?

If so where do the hook bits er.. hook on to?
Is it that flimsy looking black trim strip that runs along the top of the windows 'cos it looks a bit weak to me?
Any help much appreciated (the lad in the shop had never fitted them to an Impreza before).

Sorry Pete, I don't know how to fit the Thule roof bars, but if you're interested in fitting some original Scooby roof bars give me a call, I know how to fit them, they have only been used once.

It sounds the same as for my Legacy. The ends of the 'hooks' should have a double curve. These fit between the flimsy black trim and the rubber seal. Sliding them in sideways seems to work best. I was a bit doubtful at first.. but I carried some fairly heavy loads at speed and all seems well.

PeteT,
I have used my Thule mountain bike carrier
on the Scoob for a year or so now.
Yep you're right, the feet hook round the black
trim bit but make sure they go right under
as far as they will go - ie make sure you
pull the rubber seal lip back slightly to
get the clips seating properly.
I put a bit of black masking tape over the
trim to stop it marking.
The only problem i had was when i went down to
the Forest of Dean (450 mile round trip) and
at 80-85 mph on the motorway with two
mountain bikes on, the bars moved about 2cm
back - it is a compromise between how fast
you want to go/what load/wind resistance/and how tight you feel you can do the feet up without bending the black trim
Hope it helps
Chris C.

Thanks for the replies guys, I feel a bit happier now.
Chubbs, ta for the offer but I've already got the bars,(part-exed some from my previous Golf).
Obi / Chris thanks for the reassurance, at least I know they're fitted right, I'll just have to see how they stand up to a 16 foot Canadian canoe

Hey! Another canoeist on the board! ![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/cool.gif)
Pete, I bought a 5-door becuase I thought it'd be better for load carrying, but I actually find the tailgate gets in the way and I might have been better off with a 4-door. However, my bars on the roof rails have never moved a millimeter even with a full load of boats and silly speeds, so maybe I did make the right choice... let me know how you get on!
I paddle slalom kayak (Div 2) and some whitewater stuff (generally at places like HPP these days). Where/what do you paddle?
Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve,
nothing so extreme here, my Old Town Discovery 164 is mainly used as a fishing platform in the Lakes and Scotland with a very occasional foray down the local river.

Sounds idyllic! I'm not into fishing, but I'm starting to see the appeal of gentle river touring when it's sunny. A nice big open canadian with a coolbox full of beer, just drifting downstream....mmmm
Nice to know I'm not the only one to put odd things on the roof of a scoob though![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif)
