If, like me, you've been using your fave SUL and Millers to run your Scoob, i bet like me you've wondered just how much difference the Millers was making, if any all.
Well, i got to the point where i thought my WRX might even be running better without Millers, so i thought i'd give NOS Octane Booster a go.
Now this stuff isn't cheap. But you don't get a leaky plastic bottle, oh no, but a nice aluminium bottle, with an industrial strength cap and even duck tape around the top for added security.
But on performance terms - if you're in any doubt about the benefits of Millers, you'll be blown away by this stuff. The difference is absolutely astonishing, you wouldn't believe it. The car just pulls harder in all gears at all speeds, period.
I've absolutely no connection to NOS, but i'd thoroughly recommend it. At £12 a bottle it might sound like a ridiculous extravagance, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Top stuff!

We have also just got the Street formula which only raises RON by 3 points, priced at £7.50 per bottle.

But seriously, how much does yours cost, how many litres does a bottle treat, what's the estimated RON imporvement?
Cos i'm going to need some more sooner or later, and happy to give anything a try once But NOS is certainly effective, at least compared to Millers, IMO...

Hey why don't you do your own test? That would be a good idea, I'll send you some through cos I'd be interested in the results.
It would need to be on the rollers, on the road and in the labs though.

Acutally, Jamie you can laugh and question me on this, been selling NF for over a year, so i know what this does, on the lab, on the dyno and in the car.
If i I posted the results you wouldn't sell any of that, WHAT TESTS have you done.
NOS will not give the RON you are claiming. Full Stop.

Just laughing cos I half expected you to jump in with "I will put any OB up against NF"
By the sounds of it Ive done enough testing, I have actually tested NF, Millers and NOS, NOS is expensive but I have found that a full bottle of NOS is more effective than the recommended NF doseage.
Of course you would come on here pushing NF, as you bring it in, but you might want to think again as NOS does give the RON points it claims and actually added 6 BHP to a car ran on the same day on the same rolliing road with and without NOS Octane booster.
I am sure NF themselves have done enough testing though.

More iginition with NF than with NOS on a NA and turbo charged engine

Ahh I see, that's where I was going wrong then.
I think I told you how it was measured, on a rolling road, by the importers of NOS, dont know any other information, but I'll see what else I can find on the subject. Might of been the rolling road next door to your lab though. (JOKE)

Cool, think NF is the daddy (who is bigger) will keep using that
6 bhp is pretty good, but not as good as 19, or more advance than elf race fuel.
Like i said its the best commercial OB on the market

Well I have used Millers for a while now & will use NOS for a couple of tankfulls.
I will report back on how I find NOS compared to Millers, though it wont be anything more scientific than how the car "feels"

It is interesting even after you parted with cash Blimey.
But for our resident OB gurus here... wouldn't it be logical to conclude that raising the RON on an unmodified (non retarding) standard car should actually *reduce* power ?
I understand it wouldn't really sit well in marketing terms ( ***minus 6 BHP proven ! *** but it would make sense...
Sure, you can get better results with advancing the ignition etc... but on a standard say MY99/00 with 0 knock correction it should NOT improve power output ?
I can see why a MY01 would be different though.

I used Millers for about six months but it's a bit like power- you get used to it and always want more. not that i wasn't happy with the stuff, though.
Next I tried some NF. Just the one bottle- i was a little concerned about the measuring routine with the plastic cup effort. Seemed ok but not much difference, maybe a little in the mid range. The cup thing really put me off though- i didn't like the idea of it running down the paintwork under the filler.
Then i tried NOS after www.performanceexhausts.net sent me a bottle with my order (must be spending too much again) and i've got to say i'm impressed. So impressed that jamie has just shipped me ten bottles- and ten to my mate who has a Jap spec RX-7, apparently it makes a massive difference to it over the other OBs he's tried.
Here endeth the sermon- i can't quote numbers but both cars pull a lot better (and smoother) with NOS.

Can we not just have a civilised, yep, this is available form me, oh and this is available from me too. Try them both and see how you feel about the usage and price, then buy which you prefer.

Yes, but I think the stuff about defeating the knock sensor is important. If these products do desensitize the knock sensor without increasing RON, and the ECU adapts by increasing ignition advance, you will effectively be running 100 RON ignition timing on 97 RON fuel. This sounds like A Bad Thing to me as far as engine longevity goes.

I have a UK MY99 with prodrive pack.
I have never tried any of these additives.
I always use optimax, but what ill effects if any will my car have if I start to use them?
