Extending Warranty on EU Imports

Simple really can it be done? I feel this has been raised before, and some said yes for £400.00 via any main dealer, and others said no way Jose.
Is the definitive answer out there?

I had the same problem in April.
After speaking to IM and my local Subaru Dealer there is no way I could get a 2nd a 3rd year Warranty through Subaru UK. I even phoned up the company Subaru use but was told they only sell their warranties to main Dealers for new vehicles
The only way seems to be from a 3rd party like Motor Warranty Direct for about £400 to £500. I wasn't going to bother but working for the Civil Service I managed to get a one year Warranty through the CSMA for £145 which I went for.
