Question

My remote boot release lever has stopped working.
Before I rip the car apart looking for a fix, has anyone had similar problems, and if so where is it likely to be broken, at the boot end or at the lever end?

Thanks for any help, as always.

Just a quick thought as this has happened to me. Have you checked on the catch mechanisim in the boot, there is a lever that can move up or down. If it is up it will cancel the lever in the car from working and only the key will open it.

So if it is up, slide it down and then try it.

Hope this helps

I had a similar problem. On the catch inside the boot there is a lever, if you flick it to the other position it may sort it out... worked for me anyway...

good luck

I had the same problem too. With mine is what the catch not springing back once the lever was pulled. Bit of WD40 and levering it out with a screw diver fixed it.
Start at the boot end.

Cool

Excellent advice gents.
It turned out to be the catch mechanism had somehow been put into the 'disable remote release'.
In 4 years of ownership I didn't even know this feature existed, that's imports and Japanese Manuals for you ;-)

Thanks very much.

I have a fiesta for running round in and I didnt realised until recently the electric boot release button only worked when the ignition is off. Safety I suppose I just thought it was broke and I owudl get it fixed on the next service. RTFM in my case
