Arrrgh ! I was trying to T-cut out a 2 inch scratch that had accumulated a fair bit of crap in it and have ended up with the cut all but disappearing only to have a dark "Halo" effect around the original site.(overheated the area?) Tried to rectify by smoothing it in and have ended up with cutting it back way too far.
It looks "Jade" (That's Minging) How much is a good respray of a rear door panel top half gonna set me back ??? - I assume the respray can't just localise on the affected area of two Sq inch.
Really p155ed off that I didn't just leave it alone now

from my experiance mate they will have to fade it into the other panels on either side of the area, ie wing and back door.
be prepared to pat between £200 and £500 depending on how good you want it!

Nope - It's a lovely shade of Artic Silver with a chuffing great burn hole on the rear passenger door now. You know what it's like - once you are aware of the damage it probably looks 100 times worse than it actually is ! That said £1k for a full respray.... Hmmmm rubs chin and wonders how to tell wifey that the holidays are off this year !!!!

Bugger all use 2 ya now then but there was sum seemingly good advice on scratch removal not tried it as yet but as more slight scratches appear & i still have sum touch up paint, fron a dent i was given But now a little concerned about the inclusion of t-cut in the equation but then if paintwork looks **** enuff anyway i'm guna get tempted![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

silver is alot easier to blend in than say red.... so it should not be a real big job but i would say for a good job £100+ my mate has had stuff done to his car which was worse than a scratch and it was only about £150 and that was to blend it in too... i mean to get the whole of my spolier sprayed was £130...

Its amazing what a good body repairer can do with a buffer and some fancy polishes. I recommend taking the car to one and seeing what they can do, it might just not need painting!

I feel a lot less upset now - I was seeing several hundred going up in smoke - I can cope with a couple of centuries. Which is precisely how many beats I'll be rapping on the guilty parties head with my new shiney door !

Have you tried different polishes etc to get it out??
It would be very difficult to t-cut the top layer of lacquer off unless your paintwork was old / thin. I had a t-cut/sun disaster on my old Corolla bonnet looked like a quilt
with a bit of "Autoglym" magic it was back to normal.

had exactly the same problem with f'in Tcut on my MY00 DBM
small scratch on the passenger door turned into a 5" diameter hazed area that looked crap!
Got rid of it with the Turle wax colour wax (the blue is a good match for dbm), 3 applications later and its totally gone - get it from halfords for about a tenner I think
Tcut has gone in the dustbin

Had a silver Clio 16v which someone decided would look better with a 2 foot scratch. Had it sprayed by a back street place a m8 recomended for £80. The match was perfect. The area which was sprayed was quite a bit bigger than a scoob rear door, so i suppose anything around £80 would be a good bet.

Ah the wonderous T-Cut thats full of ammonium bifluoride! You have been warned. All that you have succeeded in doing is removing the lacquer and have nowed exposed the base coat.....you silly boy, that's what I am here for!

I had a bonnet dent fixed and full bonnet respray on a perlescant electric blue for 150 quid including vat at a good paint shop. It was 4 years ago but I would have thought less than 200 to respray a door. Find an insurance approved paint shop I did, they were VAG approved and did a great job and I couldnt tell and I am very picky paint wise.

I'll be knockin on Halfords door this very PM after some arctic silver colour wax. If this work then EXCELLENT ! If not I guess I'll wait for it to get a bit worse b4 getting a respray.
Good advice in here - Thx
