The way the import system works is in the following way,
You pay for the car in japan £7350 in your case, you didnt mention if that included Vat and import duty, if it does thats ok if it doesnt then you wil have to pay 10% import duty on the amount the car cost you in japan and the shipping charges and then you pay 17.5% vat over that. After that you convert your car to meet UK standards ie KM-mph concersions etc then you run it down to the sva center in Gillingham, now dont quote me on this but the test costs approx £450. Once it has passed you run the car to your vehicle registration office with all the documents and they register the car for you which costs £55. You will then recieve a number plate number within 2 weeks.
Hope this was of some help.

Gez.
Ps hope you enjoy the car.
PPS remember to run the car on Optimax as soon asyou get it.
