JGM2 - sorry I've taken so long to get back to you, ended up being admitted to hospital with Pluracy & suspected blood clot on the lung, I do have Pluracy unfortunatly but not the bloodclot....
anyway, thanks for the info, I won't be doing anything for a couple of weeks til I'm better, but then I might get a better spec intercooler (to replace the top mount one) & a new radiator.
FMIC is too expensive for me & really not required, but thanks for the info.

ps - I think you did right to be wary of the guy looking at the scoob as stated in your other thread...as DavidRB said, better safe than sorry especially when you have kids with you.
cheers

Sorry to hear that...

I noticed Midland-Impreza do them :
New Radiators, all years / 12 month gurantee..................£139.00

No connection to them and I dunno if any good?

Failing that take out the current one and take it to a rad speciallist and they can replace the elements and weld your end parts on for about £120.. this is what I normally do with other cars that have had the radiator go.

What year and how many miles, interested to know how long they last on the Scoob.

Hope your chest infection clears.. get some anti-biotics down you!

end caps in the scoob rad are made of plastic so cant be welded this is also the reason that they break...!!

JGM2 - thanks for the fast info & response
ps - you any relation to the original JGM?

I am eating anti-biotics like they are midget gems (yes that was a hint, if anyone wants to send me a big bag of sweets)

dhorwich - that sounds like what has happened, as the engine hasn't been overheating at all, just sudden burst, the wife said.

btw - If the wife was driving @ the time, does this mean she has to pay then

cheers

out of curiosity, whilst on this subject, how much extra approx for charge-cooler set-up, or do you still require a radiator as well anyway? it's prob too expensive anyway,

cheers

Yes I am one and the same as Jolly Green Monster.

I work away and arrived for my first week... jumped on Scoobynet and realised I had not brought my password with me... hence the JGM2 username. Word was so boring that I made loads of posts and by the time I remembered to bring my password up my post count was higher in the new username that I decided to keep this username for work and the other one for home. Am I famous then?

I didn't know that the Impreza had plastic end on the rad!
Sounds like your best bet is £139 from Midland then, I presume they do delivery.. They seem to be very cheap, someone must have used them and can say whether they are any good?

Some FMIC's use a different Radiator but you are talking about £1500 for the kit, plus fitting unless you do it yourself of course.

Not sure if a Charge cooler kit exists? thought they were home made jobbies? but not sure.

Good luck with fixing it

I've posted another thread now.....FMIC wanted
I am thinking the upgraded intercooler & new radiator really, BUT I thought I might as well ask about a used FMIC first

Sounds good to me...

I would be inclined to do the same in your situation although I have the older TD05 turbo which has a fair amount of lag as it is.

isn't the TD05 the bigger turbo out of interest, which is on the pre 96 UK models or am I talking b0ll0x ??
In the past, every time I have replaced a part of the car I have upgraded it, personally I find it hard to put a standard part back on...the wallet suffers though.

Same here, only nothing seems to brake......... touch wood..

My car is a Feb 96 uk Wagon and had the TD05 on it I believe.

It is the pre-facelift car... 'orrible tweed interior..
