Due to import duties here in Barbados (150% to 200%) I can't afford either a WRX or normally aspirated 2.0. I'm thinking about buying a 1.6 TS.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Does it share a common chassis and transmission with the WRX? Can I make it handle like a WRX, i.e. buy WRX/STI suspension, brake and exhaust parts for it?

Don't know for certain, but I suspect you'll have a *lot* of bits to replace to turn the 1.6TS into anything remotely like a WRX. The 1.6 is ok (I've driven one as a courtesy car), but there are much better cars out there for the money. If I were you, I would wait & save your money and at the very least, go for the 2.0 Sport.
