Hi guys,
whilst in a relatively safe multi storey car park that i always park in last night some barsteward stole my in dash tv head unit.
The most amazing thing is no smashed windows and the car was locked and alarmed when i got to it. Has anyone experienced this or got any ideas. I am totally deavastated as it was over £1000 worth of kit and it is pointless claiming on insurance. You just can't have anything nice in life can you. What is this world coming to. The only saving thought is that he couldn't find the detach panel and he won't be able to use it, thanks for ripping my dash half to bits first though whilst destroying my wiring.

Sorry to hear that mate. There was a spate of these type of thangs goin round a while back - someone hides outta sight with electronic device that captures the signal yer keyfob gives off and plays it back to the car to get in once yer've gone.
Wouldnt have worked with a cat 1 alarm tho i wouldnt have thought - dont the code between fob and alarm change every time with x thousand combinations ?

Sorry to hear that Jay
Rolling code alarms will stop the semi pro joy riders wich cheap digital scanners.
A laptop with the right software and remote sender will crack most run of the mill cat one alarms within 10 minutes or so.
Only used by the so called pro's into top line gear, Daytons, DVD's, Sat Nav's etc.
It was demonstrated on one of the Sky Motoring channels, the guy said if you can use Windows you can break into most cars with this software.
Updated immobilsers with transpoders in the key and programmed ECU's will stop the car being driven away but it could still be towed or transported.
If they are only interested in interior bits Immobilsers and Trackers won't bother them.
What makes me mad is that the designers of these systems are not breaking the law claiming they provide a service for people who have locked their keys in etc.![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)

If you are afraid of your car getting stolen, insure it against theft. That's the only thing you can do.
Oh, and I take a small relay from my car with me. Which means they'll need a lorry

my point was that Claudius intentionally included a swear word (by by-passing the BBS filters), and has done so before. This is not appropriate behaviour on a public bulletin board - and he could well get barred!
I too would like to do serious physical harm to thieves, or indeed anyone who thinks that they can get away with depriving hard working folks of their well earned possessions. But cussing on a BBS won't help!

Yes sure you could type ****, but if I say that, boomer will get angry with me, and I dont want that. The poor guy has already had his car broken into, no need to annoy him with offensive language.
Boomer,
how old are you?

Presumably the head unit Tv thing is no use on its own.
Even if it is, they must be amateurs. You wouldn't have some alarm cracking laptop matrix style technology to nick a head unit worth maybe £200 when hot, and not nick a car worth 25k.
