Question

Good news. My car's been found: MY00 XReg. Bad news front bumper out of line, back brakes seized, front dish very rusty, 'extras' fitted (K&N cone filter, magnex bb) so may have been thrashed.

The question is how much should I pay to buy it back from the insurance co & is it easy to resale in a years time??

allow 20% - 25% and cost of repair

Do you really want the car? Resale will never be easy

Exactly, I've been in 2 minds about this - head says too much bother, heart says need it back. Dnb thanks for your thoughts.

Is there anyone out there who has bought back a stolen recovery? What is your experience with resale/ trade in with dealers?

Thanks

Come resale time I think anyone doing a HPI check will know that it is a stoen recovered vehicle.

Might be worth finding out (if possible) why the back brakes are seized, too many handbrakes turns prehaps? may equal knackered centre diff.

I must admit that I wouldn't want it back in the condition described.

I would say unless you get a COMPLETE check of all the parts you actually don't know what you are getting back, so just to get it back on the road could be expensive

just a though

any decent dealer wouldn't touch it with a bargepole also the auction house would do a check and report to the punters. selling privatly would be your only choice, "caveat emptor" (buyer beware)
