Various things...

Induction kit - 5-15bhp increase for c£60
Downpipe - c20bhp, 30lb/ft - £180
Centre Section - c10hp - £60

Beyond that you can go down the 'boost trick' route - less reliable but can give good gains for virtually no money, or nig gains for average money - BUT less reliable and will fully screw warranty!!

That being said, if simply 'going faster' is your aim, £-for-£ better brakes, and even more so, driver training/instruction will make a far bigger impact!!

Wink

Intercooler Splitter - £25

Directs air to the front half of the intercooler as well as the back half.

Slight increase in pick up, and top end smoothness, or so my mates tell me. I'm going to get one, anyway!

Look for the "Bladerunner" banner advert.

US Scoob? Most of the above is less relevent then as you won't have a Turbo. Best cheap gains would still be from better breathing - catless straight through exhaust (or at least better breathing exhaust sections), and free-flow air filter or induction kit. You could see about 20BHP all in. Then I would see if any US tuning companies sell new ecus.

Gary.
Where do you get your figures from???
A d/p that gives 20bhp and 30lb/ft???

Anyway, there was a 'value for money' rolling road event at Powerstaton last year, to find the best bhp per pound mods.
The winning car (a green UK MY98 ) had a full catless exhaust and an induction kit.
As you're in the US, it's probably unlikely you'd get away with a cat-less exhaust, or would you?

Tractor.
There have always been turbo kits over there for the old Scoob, and they get the new turbo.

Guys, Browsing through the Dyno results shows that upgrading the downpipe, induction gives an marginal increase in BHP but the torque hardly improves Therefore is replacing the ECU, bleedvalue etc the only option to gain more torque as thats what I'm more interested in gaining rather than BHP.

Thanks

RR.
Are you serious???
My car got 267bhp with just exhaust and filter mods (standard cars averaged 229bhp).
Hardly marginal.
If you want torque, the 2nd hand PPP ecu I got for £350 seems to work quite well.

Cool

You can make your car faster and brake better for nothing...

just strip out all the unnecessary weight... rear seats... sound deadening etc... lightened cars tend to perform better... and you get the real rallycar cacophony with every bit of grit hitting your wheelarches amplified in the naked shell of your car for your own personal delight and delectation.

My car and info given by Falkland

Pre d/p 268hp 265lb/ft
Post d/p 287hp 293lb/ft

Granted both done at different times so not totally accurate, but the first (pre) reading was done on a colder, wetter day than the second (post) reading, but both at Well Lane so semi-comparative

Sorry Gary but that's ridiculous.
Just my opinion of course!

....only going on figures going from the Rolling Road

Even if both figures are over the odds, the gains are the same

268hp 265lb/ft - MY99+PPP+Straight thru Centre+Induction kit
287hp 293lb/ft - same + Falkland Downpipe

If non-PPP cars can get almost 270 with full exhaust and filter treatment, a PPP car getting another 17/18 bhp is more than feasible, especially with a 'full-sized aperture' downpipe

Cheapest option, without doubt, is a simple bleed valve in the wastegate actuator hose.

See Lee Christie at Power Engineering on dyno.scoobynet.co.uk

Search this bbs for details.

You do need to give a bit of thought to this and not get too greedy as method really relies on existing engine management overfuelling and simply increasing boost levels too much will cause the dreaded det

Exhaust plumbing is bloody expensive by comparison
