I've sold several and haven't had any feedback about being a problem. If the plate is clearly visible, from say 30m, then I don't think you'll have any trouble. They are used on some new cars.

I've had mine on the leading edge of my bonnet for the last 18 months or so and never had a problem (until a certain person who runs no front plate got pulled and i got a lecture as well).
But i carry the old one in the boot all smashed because it only just happened officer.

Been driving about with a stick on f/plate on for a couple of months now..and have had no undue attention from the law ....looks good too. Have it stuck onto the lower part of the front spoiler..

only prints....wil take a digital pic tonight and post tomorrow....
apparently the only clause in the law is the hight of the plate above the ground...there is no law regarding angle..if you know what i mean (mine is almost flat ) ....mind you if the coppers are really bored - dont blame me!.....

Is Blue a colour you'd normally associate with number plates in this country?

To JackClark, who do you think you are?
I'm asking questions expecting serious answers, not some sarchastic cr*p from a non-entity.If you consider your reply to be an answer I need, then don't bother again!

My first car was a mini-van 850 & I re-sprayed it myself (don't ask what design ) with cans of spray-paint. I decided that as the rear valance was shot, I would spray the rear number plate onto the back doors. Whilst I was at it, I would do the front too. Therefore, I sprayed a number plate sized section yellow & stuck sticky letters/numbers on & moved the number-plate light. Marked off a number-plate sized section on the bonnet (bonnet was mainly white) & added stickers. Never had any problems on the rear but told off for front, so got a proper plate. However, I was only 18 at the time so I can't remember how official the warning was

Matt, along with Rich I would be most interested to your plate location. Freinds have been telling me to try that, but I don't want to be the guinea on this one
Cheers,

When i had my stick on plate put on, i asked a neighbour whos a traffic police chap to have a gander and he had no problem with it.
He did say though that if an officer that was not particularly impressed with it, could still insist it was removed and a proper one fitted.
I asked about the bottom of the bumper and was told not to bother as it was far too flat and too low so i didnt bother.

I think it depends of the force that pull you over. I have had no problems with the local bobbies, and most of London's too. Of the several times, only the one that holtie said about gave a monkies. Stating trading standards are the problem, NOT the police.
I still drive about without a front plate.

Must be the MOT station. I have had stick on front number plates for over 12 years on various off road vehicles, all have been nearly horizontal, not vertical and I have never had a problem.
