Well the header says it all really. I'm looking a standard WRX spec car which I may add the PPP to at a later date.

I assume that my choices are
a) a dealer
b)personal import but from where - Holland? c)the old franchised dealers that are now not (who are they?!)
d) Motorpoint or Trade Sales or equivalent or
e) something/someone I've forgotten.

I am not really in any great hurry but I can remember the old days when there was a nine month wait so I'm doing my homework early!

Thanks very much for your help.

Rob.

Speak to Iain Litchfield (info@litimports.co.uk). Be sitting down when you do, as his price is stunning.

If you go direct to a dealer in Holland, which is what I did, then you can't go wrong with Gertjan van der Velde - gj_velde@wish.net or phone +31 186 661556.

Top bloke. If doing it yourself, you will need to add the cost of an alarm (400+), registration (25 quid), road fund license (155 quid), transport (150 quid) plus certificate of conformance, temporary dutch plates (dealer will includee these in the package price). Only form to fill out is a V55/5, which would take an idiot (such as me) 5 minutes.

Drop me a mail if you want more info,

Nick.

If initial cost is the only factor, I would go to a car supermarket and get an 'almost new'. Most of the savings of an EU import but without the hassle or wait. That being said, most of those will still be EU imports, so you will still face the EU ownership issues.

I have seen a genuine UK model, 2k miles, at a car supermarket for around 18k.

Rob,

Can't really say that we enjoy (Kuwait)
the cheapest Impreza prices the world over....but here is food for thought:

The price the new WRX here is well under 16000 £ pounds and that includes A/C as well

When I got my '99 4dr. I had to pay more than that (with Factory sun roof & A/C)

So the new WRX seems better value .

Happy hunting

Don't be getting too giddy about the special editions at Motorpoint. They are NOT UK300's. They do have a modest body kit and gold wheels though. They are sourced from Eire and have a 12 month warranty.

I am waiting for mine which I ordered from Gibson's of Brock. So far so good.

Again if you need any further info. drop me a line.

Thanks very much for all your replies.

I've contacted Litchfield Imports and now I know their price I really can't understand why anyone would go to a dealer! Only 2-3k cheaper in Holland Chelsie-UK? Litchfields are 5k cheaper Really!!

A personal import seems to lazy me a lot of hassle for little extra savings. I've contacted Gibsons but they will have to go some to beat Litchfield.

Thanks again to everyone.

Rob.

PS Sorry to anyone who thinks that this thread may reduce the used prices of thier cars. People like me in fact!
