evening all,
My MY00 will need a new set of rubbers soon, so I'm wondering should I stick to the Bridgestones its wearing at the moment (which seem pretty damn good) or go for something different?
Any ideas? (prices/wear/performance) - I use the car for a short country road blast to work and back everyday so need something quite sticky!
cheers
Neil

Hi Chaps
One problem is that Bridgestone are changing to S-03's which IMHO are just no where near as grippy or driveable as the simply fabulous S-02's.
They don't appear to wear very well either, but that's only based on the shape of the wear over the 1000 miles or so I've done on mine.
From now on I think I'll be switching to Toyo's as they are not a million miles off the wet grip of S-02's and as (or more) driveable. They also seem to wear very well indeed.
I've also chosen these as the tyres we do the word record for driving sideways on, and the stand up to the task insanely well.
Hope this helps
Cheers

Goodyear Eagle F1s have almost the same grip as S02s, and last a lot longer (i.e. >50% longer), and are cheaper. I've heard from 2 tyre dealers that they also comfortably outlast the Toyos, as well as having more grip. If you want high performance tyres I think they are the best all round. Once you take into account the longer life, they are even quite good value compared to Toyos.
The only downside is they don't come in 205/45/17 size so I have to use the 40 profile size which rattles my teeth a little too much for comfort

I have the Goodyear Eagle F1s on standard 16'' MY00 wheels and they are much better than the standard tyres. Great grip in the wet and slightly less road noise.
They cost me about £95 each earlier this year - you may be able to get them slightly cheaper if you look around.

1000 miles - surely, for you, that's your second set then.....
