P1 v RB5 WRSport

but if you take into account the time of day, wind temperature in angolia and what colour socks each driver has on it may be a different story
On paper P1. On the road not much in it if anything (and I have a P1) Depends how mad the drivers are.

A decent RB5 WR sport with a Downpipe will be as quick as a P1 but feel slower... due to gear box.
The P1 has a better suspension set up and an extra 1000rpm. Both very good cars...
A lot of people say the RB5WR was the best Scoob to buy and the P1 the most extreme!
Depends what you want really... I now have an RB5 that will knock the pants of a P1! But I would of preffered to have done the mods I have on an STI engine than the UK engine... mainly to do with the Head.
Go drive a P1 and make your own mind up!

i had a my97 with full ss exhaust, tried a rb5wr, not much difference performance wise, turned in better with the 17's compared to my 16's, was going to have it then i tried the p1, far better in every way imho, picked it up a week later

As a RB5 is standard UK turbo (with a solid rear bulkhead)and some cosmetic extras 218bhp and a P1 is a Sti5 with extras 276bhp in extreme driving ie a track the P1 should walk all over an RB5.
This is saying both are standard, have drivers who are the same skill and the conditions are the same.

Right, seen enough of these so about time I put my oar in.
Yes a P1 has 276bhp, but power figures don't mean a whole lot without considering weight.
P1 276bhp 1283kg so 219bhp per ton
RB5 WR 237bhp 1235kg so 195bhp per ton
0-60 for P1 4.9s
0-60 for RB5 WR 5.0s
0-100 for P1 13.3s
0-100 for RB5 WR 14.1s
as for torqure
P1 260lb ft/4000rpm
RB5 WR 258lb ft/3500rpm
So, yes, P1 on paper is a bit quicker than a standard RB5 WR. I guess it would be a value judgement as to whether that marginal difference warrants spending significantly more than an RB5 WR costs on a P1. Additionally, as already pointed out, you'd have to be an amazing driver to really get the benefit of the difference. Let's face it, if you're braking at the wrong points or stuffing gear changes, an extra second to 100mph isn't going to help you much.

Granny, where did u get your 0-60 figs from? P1 is 4.66 for starters.
And to follow your argument that youd have to be an exceptional driver to get the most out of the difference between the cars therefore youd be better off with a RB5. Well why not get a standard my00 slap a ppp on it and have a car that costs £13000 and newer than forking out £17000 for an RB5, which in my opinion is basically a normal uk impreza with bad colour paint (i had an sti5 typeR in that colour) and ridiculous looking fog covers.

BTW Crisp
The extras you forgot on the sti are speed limiter to 112.5 mph, massive 16" wheels, fickle warranty, non Peter stephens stlying, no prodrive rear wing with carbon fibre inserts, no spot lights, nice kilometer odo, rsi from filling up the water spray every 10 mins, no tracker and a radio tuned to Jap frequencies. i prob missed a load of other must have extras the sti has no doubt.

You seem to be misinformed.
Subaru don't build cars to the to 112mph. It's the japanese law that says they must be limited to this. The 112mph limit can be easily overcome, hence why an STi5 or P1 as it's known overhere can go a bit faster than this
Your right the radio's were tuned to pick up Jap radio, funny that it being a jap car. Maybe that's why they didn't sell the P1 with a stereo at all
Rsi form filling up the water spray every 10 minutes. Surely not.

Matt , im not misinformed, ive had a sti5typeR. I know the law in japan states that you have limiters to 112.5 mph. I had to get mine removed and its not free to have it done.
My P1 did come with a radio, i asked for one
And with the water spray in auto youll run out of water pretty fast, even in manual.
ps. keep the flid to yourself

As for the figures I quoted, they are the independently recorded figures quoted by Evo.

Wheels I wanted 18's which were an extra cost option on P1's anyway
Fickle warranty have you read the warranty thread.
P1 spoiler, personally I preferred the STI 5 one bu thats one is down to preference.
Front spoiler wise I didnt like it and the originals seemed to chip very easily.
Spot lamps, prefer a set of full size spots IMHO
Kilometer odo, new sticker perhaps will sort that
Water injections yep only for serious power models
Radio LOL not even going there
Tracker few hundred quid but you have th echoice to fit one or not
Each to there own but I stand by my original comment the P1 is not an STI with extra its just a different version impreza.
Cheers

Scoobynutta555, Bad paint job on the RB5? Its very nice actually and looks very distinctive, especially if you use wax wizard samurai on the paintwork. IMO Common is what i would say P1's are which is why i would rather have my RB5 which is much more distinctive and kinda less popular with 444 made.
