After 8 months of very happy scooby ownership I had a bit of a **** up a couple of weekends ago. Sad to see the scooby go, but I'll be back.
It's a tribute to scooby safety that I walked away with minor cuts and a lovely seatbelt shaped bruise.
Basically wet/greasy roads, small brown furry things and driver error. Ah well.

hahaha, I'm happy to laugh about it... at least I can go and buy another one!
I didn't actually hit anything! I was enjoying a high speed ride in the country lanes north of Brighton and went around a corner a bit too fast. A brown furry thing ran in front of the car and my instinct was to twitch the steering to avoid it. The rear end broke loose, and the car spun.
Going back round, the car hit the kerb flipped and landed on the roof, before sliding through the verge hitting a fence a couple of times and coming to a standstill!
I reckon I probably went through the corner at about 60 ish. Yep, I'm a lucky boy!

Seems like you were just as lucky as me? thnak god these cars are strong.
copy of a previous thread by me.
hope you are recovering well (mentally as well as physically).
As promised created new thread from this one driver education
This is the result of my accident at 90+ barrel roll.
did not put the 18s on the day before as it was raining, they now sit on my new scoob.(classic shape registered in december 2001).
bought another one because the police said not many cars can stand up to that sort of accident. ie the car saved my life.

Didnt realise that was YOU that did that?
Hence the Classic shape 51 reg red mica you told me about. You still going to Elvington then?
Just spotted the reg. I printed out your details and kept it at work, and wrote onto it who else was going to Elvington that I was going to try to meet, hence I remember the reg - I see it every day

Isn't it marvellous, you can have an off at that speed and walk away from it, yet park it in a shopping car park and it will only look slightly better from all the shopping trolleys and cars that park too flipping close.
BTW
Having spent 20 years of digging people out of RTA's I would say you where as one might say fortunate.

As rallycol says if your gonna have a big one have it, as least your alive to tell the tale, last time I was in a vehicle that shape it was a Ford Escort van,and it took the fire brigade 3 hours to get me out, I was hit head on at 170 mph (Combinde speeds of the 2 vehicles) by a drunk driver.
Cheers
Colin
P.S. glad to see your air bag worked too.

Hey Steve,
Yeah, it was Devils Dyke road, just past the golf club loop... as you go down the hill, you go through a left hander and along a straight before another left hander with negative camber. That's the one.
Yeah, I might get another one, but at the moment I'm working in London so it doesn't make much sense to get another car for now. I really was impressed (and grateful) for how well the shell stood up to it, so that's a definite plus for getting another.
On the other hand, I used to have a TVR and I might go back to one of those for a while, we'll see. Either way, the scooby was a great car!

I had a MY99 WRX bent into a banana whilst waiting at a crossroads in Australia last year. We survived (broken shoulder) but the car did not
Dopey oz driver to blame for falling asleep at the wheel. Still - learnt a very good lesson in the strength of a moderrn scooby that day.... so came back to UK and bought a P1 instead of a plastic car!!
