My Car, if you labour the engine very slightly, ie. accelerating from 20-25 in 4th, gives a funny rattle/resonance coming from the engine bay somewhere. i can't work out what it is. i asked the garage to take a look during the 1st service but i dont think they did. it's annoying. does anyone else get this or know what it is?

 

Can't say I've ever noticed it in mine, but don't remember being in fourth at 20 very often

I'm close to Bedford if you want to see if it's the same.

Kind of... but its down to being in the wrong gear. Why are you in fourth at 20mph? Isnt it just the engine labouring at too low a revs?

My passenger sun visor squeaked, took an age to find it. Bit of resonance from the exhaust when I change up, not worried about it at the mo.

 

My seat squeaks but just recline it now and then i read a post saying they all did it. 4th at 20 are you joking.

 

ok so maybe 4th at 20 was a bit of an exaggeration, but it does occur when the engine is very slightly labouring in 4th. It's not a big shake of the laboured engine... it's something different to that.

 

I think it may be a heat shield somewhere underneath the exhaust that resonates when labouring. My MY2001 suffered with it, as did my MY95.

Its a good excuse to keep on boost.

 

enjoy it.... in another year you won't be able to hear it due to the multiple rattles inside....hehehe

That's exactly what it sounds like to me. I mostly notice it when driving past all the gatsos on the way to work. Points earned are directly proportional to boost, so I think I'll just have to put up with it for now!
