Las Vegas....
#1
Myself and my girlfriend are going to Las Vegas mid-october for a week.
However, we want to go on a two week holiday - and we think 2weeks in Las Vegas will be too much.
So, for the first week we want to go to Las Vegas, and for the second go somewhere more relaxing/ beach or??? that is in that area....
So what I am asking, is where is a good place to go for the second week?
Thanks.

Grand Cannon area is fairly close and worth a visit. We drove from 80 miles south of the grand cannon to Vegas in one day and included a good look round as well . Might be easier to get a chopper flight from vegas though. LA isnt far or down into the bay area. San Fransisco is awesome and worth a visit. Has the second crooked street in USA (after Wall Street so we were told )

My sister and hubby are off soon to do a week in LA taking in the beaches and coast road, then a week in Las Vegas to do the casino, Grand Canyon, desert stuff etc.
Sounds OK to me.
Cheers

Hire yourself a convertable Mustang and drive down to Huntingdon Beach - its about 30 miles south of LA and just the business.
It is a great drive from Las Vegas, We changed out ticket at the last moment, Did Palm Springs, Las Vegas and Huntington Beach and flew back from LAX - One way hire on the car. It was a brilliant trip and one i can reccomend

My girlfriend and I went to Las Vagas on our hols, we stayed in the Luxor hotel on the strip for a week and had a great time seeing all the sites and so.
The second week we went to Hawaii and stayed on Waikiki beach this was in it's own way as good as Vegas, great beaches good weather lots to see and do.
I'm off to Dubai in a few weeks and totally looking forward to 50 degree heat and off road driving in the desert.
Maybe some of you guys have been there and can tell me more.
Best of luck Arron.

I go to vegas a lot to play poker - if it's your first trip then the Grand Canyon is a must-see, as is Death Valley (make sure you prepare though or take a guide, it's one of the hottest places on earth in summer & some muppets die out there). If you want to go further, it depends what sort of things you want. For nightlife etc, check out the west coast - LA, San Diego, and best of all San Francisco (top city, like London but prettier and without the ****ers). For scenery go through Monument Valley, and the Joshua Tree National Park. Or you could head SE to New Orleans which is one of the world's top party cities, but will be sweltering in summer (similar humidity to Rio to give you an idea).
Pop down to Waterstone's and read through Rough Guides and Lonely Planet - they will give you an ok idea of what places to go to.
If you want any more tips just email me, I've been out there a lot and could give you some contacts and/or good places to go.
