Can anyone help? What's the price for this service (30k), as I've been told by my local dealer (no names mentioned) that it will cost £420 Does anyone know an alternative, or have any suggestions?

Yup, sounds more or less right.
The extra costs are for new sparkies (about £50 parts and 2 hours? labour) with brake fluid and coolant change.
You could try an independent specialist but it may invalidate your Subaru warranty.

James,

Sounds pretty damned expensive to me.Mine is going in tomorrow, and I've been quoted £320 all in.That includes plugs/fuel filter/fluids, etc.

I'd do a bit of shopping around if I were you.
My car is going back to the original supplying dealer which is 50 miles away from me.I've already found that it doesn't always pay to stay local!

Ah, does no one look into the price of servicing a scoob nowerdays????
well all ive got to say is "buy the car, pay the price" you should all know its not a cheap car to run, and if you think the 30k service is expensive wait til the 45k!! change the belts there! few more hours labour on top of it.
But do like everyone says, the 30k should be around 350 quid the 45 around 450-500 (average prices only!)
and please dont whinge!!! you get too much fun out of the car to moan about a few quid on keeping her in top form!!

My 30K service is also due or more to the point my 2 year service is due (only 16,000 on the clock) I read a previous thread on this subject and rang my dealer and they said about £420 . I then rang Scoobysport and they ar doing it for about £300 (I'll know the full price on the day as I am having other things done) the only things I am not having done is the brake fluid changed (changed to 5.1 a short time ago) and the air filter (ITG already fitted) My warranty remains intact as they replace with Approved Subaru parts. I know the services are expensive but not as much as my previous BMW. Luckily there I had a friend who worked at the main dealer and I got a good discount.
