Would appreciate any replies as to were and if the cops check speeds or if there are any cameras on the M5. Will be going down and all the way back up soon on a Sat morning so I would gratefully acknowledge any advise. I don't intend going mad but I am human and it is quite easy to get carried away in a scooby when I'm doing that sort of mileage. Many Thanks.

When you pass the M4 junction slow down, you will see a number of camera’s between Bristol and Portishead (Gordano Services). Even after the Gordano services the Police are on bridges and recesses with hand held gear. Once pass the Weston-S-Mare junction all gets better.
I travel this road quite often and stick to 80-85 bar at the camera sites. Not long back a Volvo was slowly catching my group going maybe 5 mph faster out of nowhere the Police pulled him from right in the middle of my group.
Hope this helps.

OH DEAR !!!!
hey bob,
i was down there yesterday coming back from yoevil, i remember passing gordano services but didnt see any cameras, are they fixed??
gordon.
last time i went down the m5 on a saturday morning they had a manned camera on a bridge (this was at 7.30 in the morning) it was about half a mile over the brow of a hill.and i think the laser guns can get u up to about 3/4 of a mile (although i might be wrong on that.
one bit of advice try and keep left as often as possible as they tend to focus on the outside lane!

Don't want to worry you but hope your not blind.
2021 M5 J18/19 N On the approach slope of the Avon bridge just after J19 there is a camera set at 50mph. 50
2022 M5 J18/19 N On the far slope coming off the bridge just before J18 there is a camera set at 50mph. 50
2017 M5 J18/19 S On the hill down towards J18 from J17. Camera warning sign and camera usually set at 70mph. Presently in a temporary 50mph roadworks and may have been set slower 50
2018 M5 J18/19 S At the bottom of the hill, prior to J18 there is a camera set at 50mph. 50
2019 M5 J18/19 S On the approach slope of the Avon bridge just after J18 there is a camera set at 50mph. 50
2020 M5 J18/19 S On the far slope coming off the bridge just before J19 there is a camera set at 50mph. 50

A few of these cameras have now gone. But not long back I was crossing the avon bridge and it was like bonfire night with all the cameras flashing. They must run out of film within the hour. So there is hope for you.

Hey Bob... weren't all the Gatsos (and there were loads) between M4 and Gordano to do with the (five year!)roadworks and have long since gone - well 4 months or so???

I hope so, or else I might have already lost my licence

Yes most of them were for the roadworks on the bridge. But there are still working cameras there.

Watch out between Junctions 7 & 8 - Worcester and the M5/M50 junction. There's an overbridge with a mobile phone tower next to it and on-ramps to both carriageways that are masked by the bridge.

Seems a popular place for police at weekends - I've seen 4 marked Omegas and an unmarked silver Vectra in action there one Sunday!

Also, last time I was on the M5 going South they had them between junctions 13 and 15 Stroud and Falfield?) - it is where there are some roadworks, and ther are a couple each way - limit drops to 50.

Wink

Don't speed between junction 27 and 28 (if u go that far south!)Tiverton/Barnstable turn off. Favourite area for laser and also for vascar. Usually sat out of sight on bridge or follow you off slip road.

go steady through the roadworks near Gloucester - there are mobile gatso's in the centre reservation, both directions, and they do flash.

Cheers
