Cool

Phil, glad to hear you ae ok. That area of Nottm is not particularly nice either (imho) so I suspect it was more than attempted racing (I used to live in Nottm so I do know this area!) Relieved to know it wasn't closer to home too.

Edited to say: apologies to any SN bod who may live there it was opinion of area

Red face

Glad you are ok does not sound a nice experience, even if it was just that you annoyed them what gives them the right to chase you one word to describe them - SCUM Maglites are also a vital part of kit incase of breakdowns might have trouble explaining why I need a 6 cell one though

Claudius what would you do if two masive skinheads ran up to your car and tried to open the door, and you shot them dead only to find out that you had a flat tyre etc and they were trying to stop you from ruining your wheel???? IMHO I think you are just on the wind up but if not I suggest you try waving a gun around in Paris, (My old man lived there for a few years - BTW) and I don't think the Gendarmes would ask you if it was real or not before shooting you.

Edited to say if you wan't to go somewhere to live where it is fine to carry a gun in the street and people don't give a monkeys go and live in South Africa mate, I have been there and you are wellcome to carry a gun, unfortunaltey just look at Cape Town and J'burgs murder rates

Good luck

Andy

Jesus Phil, glad you shook em off mate!
I had a car with four lads in it chasing me a week or two back when I was on my way to visit the in-laws, I would speed up and get away from them (60 zone country A/B roads), every time I slowed down behind other traffic they were right up my **** again. I took loads of turn offs thinking they were just wanting to race and would get the message, but they kept following and I started to think they were actually after the motor. In the end I waited behind another car going along at 60mph until some oncoming traffic came towards me, then overtook at the last minute knowing they wouldn't be able to follow, then sped off at 100+ and managed to shake them.
To make matters worse, I had the missus in the car with me, she totally misunderstood what was going on and was giving me ear-ache telling me to slow down! Dosey mare...

Pepper spay is avilable from France!! you can have it over there as are stun guns!!
They're also both illegal and posession would almost certanly earn you a criminal conviction in the UK.

you can also buy telescopic battons in the UK but it is only illagal if you have it extended!!
Incorrect! An extending (expanding) baton is ILLEGAL. It would be classed as an offensive weapon, regardless of whether extended or not!

pepper spay would be ideal as you dont have to make any contact with the carjackers, just hold up and press and then drive off!! v.v. nasty stuff on the resiving end!!
Unless of course like in Phil's case, (or how it would probably have been, he would/could have got a dose himself if sprayed from the car..... Causing him to crash, earning himself a criminal conviction for carrying an offensive weapon, and for Assault).

It is nast stuff, I've had regular doses of CS gas (which isn't actually a gas), over the years and that bloody hurts... Pepper spray is apparently worse.

Mike.

Talking

Replace the tyre, what else?
Kinda hard from a prison cell?

Why would I do that?? I'm not a stupid kid with a 106...
When you haven’t got a valid point always resort to an uneducated insult Unfortunately you know nothing about me and I don't give a monkeys what you think so insult me all you like!

Look at it the other way around: is it worth for me to try and steal your car if I could get shot for trying to do it?
I brought up J'burg etc. as places where people carry guns as a good example, as people do not get threatened to get out of their car they just get shot by the car jacker with out a chance of knowing its happening. At least in this country where people do not have loaded guns in the car it has not got to this stage YET.

I don’t think murder rates are related to being allowed to carry a gun. Look at Virginian murder rates. It's related to hatred, racism, oppression, poverty, etc. Get real.
You are telling me to get real? You are the one proposing shooting people out of your car window if you in your infinite wisdom think they deserve it!!

Salsa have you found anything else out about them yet?? I would lay low for a while

Good luck mate

Andy

30mins ago!!

just left a friends house
came out on to Gregory Boulevard (opp the Forest) Hyson Green Nottm
car comes up VERY quick behind me..almost touching my bumper..i speeded up as i thought they were going to hit me.

came up to the two small islands Bottom of Nottm Rd, Gregory Boulevard and Mansfild Rd (where the Goose Fair Goose usulaly is)

they still behing me!! so put my foot down...there still there.
came to Traffic lights bottom of hucknal Rd/Mansfieds Rd out side Savoy Hotel...they pull allong side slowly.
i keep back...lights change they move off slowly..i keep back still.
they hang out window looking at me so i drop a gear and GO!!!
60+ 70+ up Mansfield Rd in to Sherwood.
getting away from them but they are coming still.

next set of light Hadden Rd juntion of Mansfield Rd, Sherwood.
big lorry brakes for the lights..i try and out brake and slide at the side of it...but gap is too tight between the kerb and the lorry.

the bar stewards go round the lorry on the wrong side of the rd and cut the loory up to get in the lane i'm in..but of cause in front of me!
i spins the car round to go up a side street out the way...next thing their coming towards me after going up a ONE WAY street the wrong way!! i cut back down the same street...the street they are on was too narrow to turn round so i manage top get away from them!!!

when it was all clear...i rang 999 and reported them

Two Asian guys ina dark coloured FOCUS (FGorFN02***) numberr plate

Farcking hell! It was probably a dry run 'cos they'd have nicked a car and gone for it if they were for real. Close one mate!

Police were ok...didn't say too much but they will keep theres eye open!!! he said he will send someone round!
but i said not much poit as i've said evey thing over the fone...their time is better spent finding them!!!!

having fast car didn't give me that much advantage other than Braking and PULL away speed!

other cars on the road and traffic lights slow any 200bhp+ car down to a point that a focus is back behind you!!!!!

Did the police not say whether they knew if the Focus was nicked, Phil?

Salsa-king, glad you're ok, I was in Nottingham the other day at Beechdale and told of the problems I had with the P1 and arsewipes it was attracing. I'm dead paranoid about the car now and may have to give up the P1 sooner rather than later.

Your episode was quite thrilling to read, but still scary...

If your motor is the one I think it is, I'm surprised they went for you - a little distinctive isn't it? Sticks out like a sore thumb?

Well, glad you're OK M8, well done.

I'm sorry if I sound unsympathetic, I do feel for you Phil, it was obviously scary. But, that sounds like two people in a Focus wanting to race an Impreza, and what better target than one that's dressed up for the cruise scene. Now I feel a w@nker, but people get scared when other people scream Carjack.

Aye it does sound like to idiots out to cause as much chaos as possible.

If it was an attempted car jacking I am sure an attempt to actually get in your car would have been arranged and organised before getting near you.

Glad to hear you are fine from th ordeal anyway. Sounds like they should be taught a frigging swift and sharp lesson with something heavy

Moses just emailed me saying two friends of his in Nottingham saw a scooby driving around with the boot lid not properly closed and a blown stop light in the back. They wanted to tell the guy but he just drove away!

Thumbs down

boot lid not closed!? rear light gone! on my car! in ya dreams!
the weight of a STi5 spoiler keeps boot lid down!!!

JUST WANTING TO RACE??????? lol
been thinking that all night!
BUT
the distance i travelled and the way they were following me they were not the usualy lads trying to RACE!!!!
their looks on their faces were not 'boy racer' types!

more a case of lets see what we can do with this!
anything could of happened!
what if someone steped out on me when doing 70+ on a 30 road!
(its a wide road at that)

yes i can out run a Ford Focus....but a focus is back on ya bumper when you have to slow down for cars turning right in front of youy and bloody traffic light on stop!

also i had to keep to the main roads as the roads i would hav driven home on have flipping speed bumps all over them! so i know that would not hav bee a good option to take!

If Yo had Two asain guys (or any two guys) flying up behimd you and pushing up! and you thought they were going to SHUNT your rear end..........WHAT WOULD YOU THINK THEY WERE DOING! or GOING TO DO??? this is not a one off in Nottm in the last few weeks...and the description of them sounds like what ppl have given for this type of thing happening not that long ago!

I don't think i'm paranoid!

Phil,

Glad to hear you are ok mate. I fear it has been said in too many threads lately - cars can be replaced, people can't.

As long as your neons are ok -

Phil,
I am so relieved you are okay and managed to get away from them.

I hope the police catch these evil scumbags.

I got a text last night and was going to text you about but I have lost your number (new phone).

Like Scoob_babe I used to live in that area (Burford Road) and know what some of the "characters" are like, you did the right thing getting away from them.

Hope the legs are less like jelly now and your heart has stopped pounding.

Mark
