Hi all, Having just become a Scooby owner, and having read this forum for a while, I know how friendly all you owners are, or so I thought. Having waved and flashed my lights to about a dozen Impreza drivers, I have had no response whatsoever. I realise that I am only driving a Legacy Turbo, and maybe you all think that it is a poor imitation, but hey it is a Scooby and that is how it all started!!!! Please be nice

jsh,

Bear in mind, not ALL Subaru owners use this site!!

I'd say probably 5-10% (my guess, although ready to be corrected) of owners are here!

At some speeds (70mph, your honour!) it's hard to wave back, once you realise someone has waved or flashed!

Welcome aboard. Doesn't matter what Scooby you have, you're still part of The Gang now.

I feel really sorry you only have one reply,
SO I'M WAVING, SEE?

Now I'm off to find some other wavers.

'Bye

Hi Jsh,

I wave at all the different scoobys here in Greece and so far all the different model ones have waved/flashed back at me. I have the Impreza turbo MY00 and some impreza drivers don't wave flash/back but so far 100% from the different models.

Welcome. I wave when I can. Sometimes I just don't realise that the oncoming car is a scooby until it's to late. Sure I register an oncoming car, but am busy looking at the road elsewhere.

One thing to bear in mind to - I would say that most on here probably arn't very familiar with the Legacy Turbo shape so perhaps don't recognise at all, or do after the event.

I've got a Fiesta, imagine how I feel!

It's hard enough spotting people you know sometimes, I think there should be an internationally recognised signal for " yes I did actually you I just couldn't wave/flash in time".

A few months ago I'd generally waved and got a reply (or vice versa) but then it seemed that nobody ever waved back - I started to feel a bit stupid. Then today my son said 'Daddy, why did that man in that Impreza just wave to you ?'..... and I'd missed it ! He probably thinks I was ignoring him, and has now given up waving. D'oh !

Get the gold wheels and the pink badge. Drivers from all brands will wave more friendly than you can imagine.

I have got into a habbit of flashing and waving at scooby owners (Turbo and Sport)!

Trouble is, I don't actually drive a scooby, I drive an Astra GSi 16v, so i get some pretty unpredictable responses!

What A Muppet!

I feel a right fool if I wave at someone I don`t know but I`ll wave back if somebody waves at me. Maybe I`m just shy

The last time there was a thread like this someone suggested that everyone on here should buy a window sticker from the shop.

This way we'd be supporting ScoobyNet and we'd be able to tell if a driver is likely to wave or not therefore cutting down the risk of waving and getting embarased when you get a strange look from the person you waved to.

Got the gold wheels, and a nice scooby sport back box, so if you dont see me you will hear me. I am not putting pink badges on though.

Hi,

I drive a sport, and always thought as I don’t have the scoop no one would acknowledge me. I couldn’t have been more wrong... if I see you/get seen there is usually a flash or wave!

.....that even goes for the boys in blue, at one of there favourite spots down in the new forest (red MY98 same year and colour as mine), I managed to get a smile but they were probably thinking don’t try anything son...ours is faster than yours !!

Following on from the sticker suggestion how about Scoobynet number plates, at least they'd be on the front of the car Just rather than a flag or whatever on the side they have the Scoobynet logo?

jsh,

I'm with you on this one, I wave as often as I can but rarely get any response. Most scooby drivers seem to be suited businessmen who have bought a fast car but don't understand the meaning. The rest of us wave when we can (velocity permitting).

So for those going too fast to notice - no probs weve all done that.

To the other ignorant people out there - WAVE YOU B*****DS , YOU MAY NOT WANT TO BUT YOU DO BELONG. READ THE HANDBOOK I'M SURE THERES A BIT THAT SAYS "WAVE AT PASSING SCOOBYS"

Forget waving or flashing!!

When ever I see another scooby driver I always try and ram them off the road
It's the only way I'll be crowned 'king of the roads'. As my driving examiner once told me ‘always eliminate your closest rivals first if you want to be a good driver’

Thanks for all the postings guys, it is good to know that you do care. I was beginning to give up hope. I look forward to meeting some of you on various meets and track days etc.
