Perhaps someone can explain why the new STI (Ugly looking car) has been brought out with only 265BHP whereas older models have 280BHP ?

Andy A few factors

Jap(JDM) Sti runs 100 RON fuel
UK is mapped to 97(can use 95 at a push and if not driven hard)
UK Sti has to comply with more stringent emissions regs
UK Sti redlines at 7500 not 8000 Rpm(see above)

Neil Smalley : I have a STi 7 UK version and can most definately say that the redline is a little over 8000rpm not 7500.

Dave

So have I, The limiter may cut in a 8K, but the start of the redline is 7500 on mine.

Jap redline starts at 8k http://www.subaru-sti.co.jp/sti_prodrive/c00_f.htm

I want my 500Rpm back

Maybe your previous interests before you edited your profile were more appropriate

Yes, the STi7 is underpowered compared to a P1

Yes, the P1 is a far better car

Yes, the STi7 is ugly.

There, happy now?

BTW, the STi7 is 261 bhp, 265PS; and the earlier cars were 276 bhp not 280

Question

Andy,

Are you implying that Dave should not be proud of his occupation?

In case you didn't see it, Andy's profile before he edited it listed interests as "w4nking". By default, then, I guess he is saying he is a w4nker.....

Please note before we get into a slander/defamation situation I am most certainly NOT saying this, merely repeating what he typed in his own profile

The spelling correction to libel was to the earlier post BTW.

Golden rule of suing someone is to make sure they have assets in case you get a judgement against them - at present we have two houses, two mortgages and a bridging loan so anyone that sues me is welcome to a share of my net deficit
