Up and Over the Pyrennee's - Have you dont it?
#1
I’m doing a bit of travelling holiday this summer. Hitting the chateaux’s of Bordeaux then on down to Barcelona and across to Mallorca.
Which brings me to my questions: Has anybody driven over the Pyrenees’s from Toulouse to Barcelona?? I would love to do this but it depends on time as I’ll be wanting to catch a ferry at Barcelona.
Firstly and importantly how long does it take?? Compared to the motorway route??
Whats it like?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Chappers

The N152 is one of the best roads in the world. Definitely do it if you get the chance.
Worth stopping at Ax Les Therme for a bite to eat, as there isn't much after that for a good few hours. If you fuel up at Foix or ALT then you should make it to Vic on a tank, even with very enthusiastic driving.
Border crossing is at Borg Madamme (sp). Never seen anyone there. Road becomes un made, then made again... you're in Spain.
There are some excellent tunnels near Andora And the views are spectacular.

Pete, thank you.
I've always wanted to do it. It looks fantastic on the map, tight turns all the way up to Andorra then down the other side to the coast at Barcelona
Any idea on the rough time to travel?

Agree with Pete re the Andora route, we drove to Denia via there, and stopped overnight in Andora. The scenery and roads are out of this world and have to say it was the best drive of my life!!! (and we had a sshhh, ahem, Cossie then!!!) Well worth the extra time over the motorways.
