Here's my plan
I want to try summat different with this whole meet thing.
It goes like this:
Meet Up at point A
Drive to point B
Stop and have a social in a suitable place (15 mins)
Drive to point C
Stop and have a social in a suitable place (15 mins)
Drive to point D
Stop and have a social in a suitable place (15 mins)
ETC
I reckon that a good few hours "Decent" driving can be had
Lets face it, we go to a meet, we drive to a venue and because that is the "Climax" of the meet, we stay there
We have ALL been there Kicking the floor, smoking more **** than we should, talking about the same old bollox when deep down all we want to do is DRIVE )
Hows about we make a DAY/ WEEKEND OF IT!!! ?
Imagine, pulling into a carpark with a few scoobs in it .............It fills up over a course of an hour...........You get given a route to end all routes that covers maybe 150-200 miles (in 20-30 mile chunks)...........You set off when you want, as quick as you want, knowing that at the next meeting place, there will be some scoobs either with you or just leaving on the next leg
Basically a ROLLING meet
It would cover a big distance but you get to take in :
Twisty Stuff
Windy Stuff (Wind-ey not windy as in windmill )
Roundabouts
Dual Carriageways
Motorways
Towns
Villages
Roads that we really should not be on
Roads with cattle grids on them!
Pretty much the whole nine yards.
Places that you never knew existed
You would only require the following:
A Passion for Scoobs
(Ideally) A co driver
Enough schekles to fuel ya beast
Enough Schekles to feed yaself and co-driver
A Tolerence for getting lost
A Spare day
Patience!
Obviously I couldn't dream of managing ALL of this myself so i would need help but I know a few folk (If you know what i mean )
Like the "BIG ONE" it isn't going to happen overnight so I will put the Idea out to tender and gauge response.
I truly believe that we could roam England for a day/weekend in a mini gumball rally stylee (Without the "I'm too rich to worry about speeding tickets" attitude) all you need is to commit yourself to the event
So:
One day or Weekend?
Can you make yourself availiable as a co-organiser during the organising phase or not? (Not a pre-requisite )
Up for a SERIOUS SCOOB Session
Consider the impact on family life! If ya kids don't travel or you can't get a dog sitter etc!
Can you commit to a time frame? None of this "I should be or maybe or i think so Hows about you put your £15k + investment first, just for ONE meet
Accept that the need of the many WILL outweigh the needs of the one (None of that...."I Know you are meeting on the 20th, but i've got a origami class then, can we make it the 21st" Bollox)

LOL... excellent idea Mikey. One snag as I see it, surely most people are likely to want to do the a to b to c to d etc, meaning that there are no scoobs (or very few) at each meeting point. Unless of course it really is a full on trip in which case each of the meeting points could turn out to be "joining" points and you'll end up with one 'ell of a lot of Scoobs at the end !
Whatever, it's a grand idea !

what about an overnight stay in a camp site ?
you could do it so it starts in the south or north and makes it's way up or down with an overnight stay half way.
that way the first or second days are accessable for everyone depending where you live.
you could then choose where you start the meet and when you wanted to turnround and go home.
it would be a rolling meet over 2 days.
well its an idea anyway.

Please stress when organising this that it is NOTHING to do with the SIDC.
The SIDC do not permit group road drives at club events due to the amount of accidents, the amount of complaints about bad driving (normally received by me, from the public and the Police) and the potential for legal action against the club as a result of an accident.

Only camping if Dyney's around to fix me BBQ
Sounds good Mikey - I assume we'd all be in groups of 5/6 leaving anyway so the potential for complaints will be limited (hopefully)....
I'll be on the look out for further detials and offer my assistance if needed...

OK, I'll just get this bit out of the way
It's got bugger all to do with SIDC or Scoobynet, It's NOT a race, If you have an accident it's your fault etc
Now can we get back on topic and stop telling me what is going to go wrong! I remember at least two pages on one of the big one threads warning of all the woes that would become those who attended.........The day went as smooth as a babys **** and NONE of the woe occoured.
I'm sure that as responsible folk, we can travel around the country one weekend without it being seen as a crime

I'd be up for it - especially since the Big One was a big thumbs up! It'd have to be much later for me - proper planning prevents a pi** poor performance and all that!!
C'mon Sport owners, let's be havin' ya!
