Generally I think they require a double DIN socket to fit into but I have seen aftermarket models that sit on top of the dash. Aint cheap though!

of course you can. there are a whole bunch of satnav systems that work in single DIN slots. go to your local in car electronics place and talk to them

Why would you want a big bulky screen, a cd/dvd which needs constantly upgrading and a further reason for your car to be nicked! Try Smart-nav from trackstar, 1 button totally up to date and takes in traffic conditions. Had it fitted recently, faultless and rrreeeaal gadgety!!

cars tinted and most systems have a fold away screen, with removable face plates

easy-peasy!

I had a Blaupunkt sat nav in my 97 STI, they had to mod the aperture slightly by cutting away some of the plastic, but I think you would with any UK size kit. Mine worked well but just tells you when to turn left / right, a screen would be better for actually seeing where you are on the map. My brother had the Alpine screen system in a Cerbera which was good and had the other advantage that you could watch telly on it, usefull in a TVR for while your'e awaiting the pickup truck

I guess you could always get a UK spec console from a breakers yard if you wanted.
