You are an old shape guy??A proper 280BHP? What about the improved build quality ? Still got the grin factor & its still a pleasure to drive !! It would be sad if we all liked the same cars & would probably all be driving "Smart" cars!!Dont be a Dinosaur man!!

I would buy a Mercedes if I wanted build quality , I want raw and on the edge not all rounded and cuddly . Note this view may change radically if the new MY03 is worse .
And yes 280bhp (well 280PS from the factory and yes I run close to 100RON fuel ) and the car weighes about 1230kgs giving in excess of 220bhp/ton in standard trim .

Full respect to the old shape, it is wat imprezas are!!! The new shape still takes a little bit of getting used to. The new shape is one of the strangest cars, it photgraphs terribly, it's like it is camera shy, "bug eye" looks soooo much better in real life. Wierd stuff. Version 6 still is the best........

Why do "old shape" drivers call new shape UGLY ?
What is ugly about my car:
Its not the BHP that matters... my car is faster around a track than a lot of scoobs with more power... its the driver!

Looking good but not exactly standard factory styling is it .
I said you can sort the styling just costs money.
You mean you wouldnt be quicker with an extra 65bhp round a track or coming out of a slow second gear corner ?

WRXBOB, you've got to admit though that they look/go like FA "straight out off the box". Spend a small fortune on them and they are damn fine toys. A nice set of 18's would set your's off a treat.

Since the 1920's cars have been getting heavier and slower. I've got a 1930 car based on a 1921 design (if not older), and it weighs more so despite more power it is slower on a track. However, on the road it cover distances A-B about 10% faster and is much more relaxed. The New Age WRX is similar to the "Classic Shape", and suffers the same characteristics. I wouldn't want to compare track times, it is heavier, but more is refined and handles better.
So, it is horses for courses. There are plenty of 3 litre cars that are faster than my 4 1/2, as there are "classic" shapes faster than my New Age. Each to their own. Lets just enjoy all of them and avoid the main enemy - the Government and the Environmental Lobby.

It's all academic anyway! I could cover a given distance (in the real world) quicker 10 years ago in a Nova GSI than a Scoob at the same time of day over the same road. An extra few KGs in weight makes FA difference in comparison to a few extra thousand cars on the road. Of course where it matters (on a BBS) I now have the second fastest car on the planet only beaten by a classic Scooby!

cant afford a new shape? who do you think you are? Reason i didnt get a new shape were they were lardy and looked weedy and pathetic, bourne out i suspect by the averaging older scooby buyer these days.
I get so many comments from peops who hate the new shape, i personally wouldnt spash out on a new shape only to spend x amounts of money trying to make it look easier to the eye, and then to be shafted for beleiving the subaru bull5hit of it "being the future" when behind the scenes subaru are frantically redesigning it. This shape will be the forgotten shape and youll be left with egg on your "keep up with the Jones's" face.
Just a reminder but youd have been better to buy a second hand P1 for your money, even though it wouldnt have the all important 01 or whatever numberplate.

Scoobynutta take a chill pill! IMO all this banter is just that. Buy and run whatever "floats ya boat". If you are happy to resist change then so be it. Thankfully mankind has always had the few willing to push forwards otherwise we'd all still be living in caves and using Betamax VCRs!
