How fast ?
#4
150/6000*7200=180mph
but I think you'll hit a speed limit at 170mph
plus power required to make speed goes up by cube of speed
So topping out at 170 would need 45.5% more power than 150. and 180 would require 73% more than 150. Of course you may have just run out of road or ***** to go beyond 150.

I take it your car is a UK turbo?
All i can say is that ive passed the 6000 rpm mark in 5th, actually ive hit the 7000rpm mark in 5th (Autobahn in Germany ) and its off the clock so also taking into account that there is a slight deviation in your speedo, you should be looking at around 167mph to 7k rpm

Now here's a topic I know something about (and just the excuse to rattle on about it)
At Elvington last weekend in my mildly tuned MY98 UK I went through the end of the 1.2 mile top speed trap timing beacon with somewhere around 6700rpm showing and the car still pulling towards the red line in top.
Top gear in a UK car is 24.8mph / 1000rpm assuming that your wheel diameter is set on 205/50/16's. 215/40/17's (like I run) have a smaller diameter and therefore you loose around 1% off this figure...
So a quick calculation in my head lead me to beleive that I was running at somewhere around 166mph less 1% When I got the figures back I infact went through the trap at 166.6mph
Don't forget that .6
Now if you were able to hit the limiter in top on a uk car (and beleive me you'll need some poke to do it!) you would be traveling at around 178.56mph on standard wheels and about 177 on the 215/40/17's...if only I had manged to launch the car properly I would be able to tell you if that speed can be acheived in a mildly modified UK...

Was the Allegro spray machine on or off
Interesting reading about the top speeds. Most mags have only got 155 out of a P1 or EVO VII Extreme. With the lovely bodykits attached to the scooby, I'm suprised it goes about 160.

FFS - the Impreza is not about top speed, it's about accelerating to the next bend.
I'd like a tad shorter gearing, 5th is silly tall for a "fun" car...IMHO naturally, 150 mph around 6700 rpm would do nicely.

The max I have had out of mine is 167 (ran out of room to keep going) on my Defi head up display... this is accurate as when I crossed the line at Elvington last week at 163 on my display I had it confirmed by the speed machine they used...
It should do 175 with the gear box but to get there you will need a massive amount of grunt.....

Jonathan, you would hardly recognise the car these days well other than it still looks ish like an MY98 UK car...I'm still a local btw (asuming Adam's are still your supplier of choice!) have to catch up some time...
Plantie, I think the extra 3mph (or so) came from having the standard low spoiler rather than the Prodrive one on your car
If I go to the adjustable 22b style unit then I'll do what the Skyline boys were doing and remove the centre for the top speed runs

Indicated 147 in my MY00 totally standard before I bottled it on the M5 (the private road I use has the same name as a motorway funnily enough). Cant imagine it would do much over 150.

I've seen a few pics of scoobs with the needle off the speedo, one thats springs to mind is Gossy on an autobahn.
After being stuck on the Warwick roundabout for an hour I decided, when I finaly got moving, to give the Terzo a bit of boot down the on ramp. So there I am with a bike doing the same get on to the M40 look at the speedo and I'm doing "alledgedly" 155 ish with loads of revs to go.
After changing my underwear and coasting back to the speed limit I wondered what the top wack would be.
Didn't find it a Dono. Note to self ..... need airfield

Ian,
Let me know when you find a suitable airfield I'd love to know what mine will do. I've seen 150 indicated but was unble to push to see if it would go any further due to unfortunate circumstances. Besides, it scared me so silly I haven't tried it since

Only if you can remember what revs you were pulling, and your tyre size
Speedos can vary enormously, up until May last year my car was over reading by about 8%, I got a new sender supplied under warranty (god knows how as they new I was running a Link!) and it now ever reads by about 2%

STi7 (with 9k miles on the clock). Off the Speedo (160+) when the Ecu speed limiter started to slow me down gently, but the engine was still wanting to Rev.
I think the guy in the 911 500 yrds behind me also hit his speed limiter !!
Thank you private roads !

I got 150mph (on the speedo) on my (was then) standard 1994 UK 5 door with 105,000 miles on the clock carrying a passenger & a (large) rottie.
I don't think the reading was far out because the saphire cossie couldn't keep up.

I have decided that I'm not going that fast again, it was just one of those moments. I had three people in the car, one of them rather large, and was surprise at how fast I got there, and it still had loads to go!! Anyway, I had a play with a Ferrari 328 on the weekend and made him look silly, so as far as I'm concerned now, my RB5 is fast enough!!

Cars has had a custom John Banks remap, and it's just great....... 180 MPH are you serious ? Got to the target speed 150 MPH, never been that fast and it was three up I was worried about the intercooler getting hot, so backed off. It has got to be said that it got there in such a short space of road!!!

PS Waiting for the Defis and Knocklink to arrive, but delta dash has made the whole experience so much better and safer
