B@stards. I know how you feel mate. Had my wheels and stereo knicked by some slags a few months back.

I narrowed it down to 3 people and, well, I got my own back.

I agree killing them is a good way of resolving the situation.

Personally, I like shooting thieves in the stomach area. That will make them lose all their blood, but takes between 30 mins and 2 hours

Peace and God bless

It's a good idea to fit a tamper switch of some kind to the grill, so when they rip it off the alarm goes off, they won't be expecting it.

Oh and put extra protection around the bonnet latch (some steel plating) only down side is if the bonnet cable snaps then you're bu66ered.....

You know claudius, when I first read your posts on the MLR I thought you weren't for real.

then I thought you were a dick

now I think you're actually an alright guy!

are you as bored as me?

Anyway, mr scoops, I hope you do catch the gits, and I am surprised they tried it on as late as 5.30 am

any tips for security? 'cause yours paid off. Did you have locking wheel nuts? if so what brand can we avoid?

Dont forget that with locking wheel nuts, they are only as secure as where you keep the key/bolt to remove said nut. Its obviously no good to keep the key/bolt in the car as once they have broken in it would be a matter of time to locate it.

agreed, but some look like they will come off without any specialist tools.

Oh, you read the polisher register? Some good guys on there actually...

then I thought you were a dick
Why did that change??

now I think you're actually an alright guy!
You must be talking about someone else but me, or have had too much too drink or something like that

are you as bored as me?
Dont know how bored you are, but it's more of a waiting period for me at the moment, till I get my damn car back, so I am even meaner than normal (didnt know that was possible, but turns out it is...)

Good point about the locking wheel nut remover Mannyo, I suppose we should use it as a key ring then it'll be with us always.

c2scoops,

Would you mind editing to remove the detail about how they got the bonet open.

Unless we all do what Floyd said this would appear a security weakness that its nice to know about as an owner, but I wouldnt want any one else to know.

Cheers

Nick

This info has been published in a Max Power type of mag, but anyway I'd guess that all the toe-rags already know this and we should know how to protect against it.

If you really want me to edit it then OK.

hi
the steering lock was autolock 2000 (covers half the wheel and clamps around center arm of wheel just gone one better disc lock (£40 plus vat from a place called costco wholesales)as for bonnet cable thing they have been doing this for years (have also got a mk1 gti and that is how they used to pinch them)can open any bonnet this way as ive been told the best bet is to cut down the switch to about half the size so when bonnet is relesed your alarm goes off straight away.locking wheel nuts (my fault had been working on car and all tools, etc in boot have been advised by ex car theif to get another switch on other side of bonnet and a alarm siren fitted in the car itself then the old faithfull security post that drops into the ground.
stephen
ps they still have the saffie and are still using it k***nrg so they will be caught sooner or later.and god help them when they do

Can I suggest additional sirens located elsewhere, maybe another mounted somewhere other than under the bonnet and maybe another inside the car and please ensure they all have their own power supply

It pays to really think about your alarm before you have it fitted as most dealers will fit every alarm in the same way and in the same locations, once a thief has overcome one they can overcome them all.

iam going to see about getting a metal plate that fits over bonnet catch and will let you all know howmuch these will cost and see about getting some made.
stephen
ps cut your bonnet sensor switch down by about 1/4 inch and your alarm will go off as soon as bonnet is relesed.

Rather than cutting down the bonnet switch..
How about spending £1.50 in halfords and getting an adjustable height push switch??
That way you wont end up with a switch that doesnt work cause you cut it too low
Plus the halfords jobbie can be adjusted to exactly the height needed..

Gearbox Deadlock is a pretty good device.... but costs!! My Dealer's workshop manager reckoned it would take him three hours in the workshop to get it out, using all the tools at his disposal. Display ad on SIDC's mechandising link.

The bonnet switch can be positioned near the scuttle ,well away from prying hands.

multi locks etc can be got around in less than a minute.
also bonnet switch is easily cut down to size without making to small you just have to look under bonnet as you relese and watch how much it moves.
