Bleedin Basball Cap Brigade......again
#1
Oh dear oh dear...
Seems any teenager with a bit of cash can buy a nice car these days... and we get painted with the same brush because of it....
Just driven along the M1 (J23A - 23) in front of a rather nice WRX M reg... big spoiler... huge exhaust... spotty teenage driver with equally spotty jail bait in the passenger side. Bass box thumpin out the latest Ibiza tunes.... baseball cap suitably placed on back of head....... you know the type... copy of Max Power next to bottle of Oxy10 on back seat..
The traffics fairly congested - usual procession of cars in 2 outside lanes.... everyone at 80 - no one prepared to move into inside lane... usual commuting stuff
WRX boy decides "enough of this - lets cause some havoc".....
Wallop - dashes through a tiny gap from fast lane straight to slow lane ......just misses the two cars in the middle lane - driver at back takes avoiding action....
Slams his foot down, right up to the back of the lorry thats doing 50 up the slight hill.... woosh... just missus lorry, undertakes and carves up driver in middle lane, then in same instant forces driver in fast lane to take serious avoiding action... break lights everywhere.... people swerving to avoid each other..... hands waived... tempers raised....
And the Tw*t's gained about three places....
In my car are three work mates... who dont know what i drive....
"I hate those f**king impreza drivers - they're all tw*ts".....
So Baseball cap brigade spotty muppets.. to categorise you in a nice cliche... just because you can afford a nice car... doesn't give you a licence to drive like a ****.. and how you drive reflects peoples opinions of the rest of us OK!!!!!
:O :O :O

I think the in word at the min is "stereotyping" fits the bill nicely here i think.
If a person is a **** behind the wheel it doesn't matter what they drive.
Put it in "Was it you" and commend him for making progress through the traffic.

Trouble is that early Imprezas can be had for 5K now which is affordable for a lot of people. (assuming they can afford insurance or even bother with it)
This was one of the reasons I got rid of mine (and the running costs), the Impreza is rapidly becomming the new Escort RS Turbo.
Big alloys, pimp tints, loud exhaust and being driven badly in a town near you....

...not that I'm defending boy racers of course! Btw, if I wear my baseball cap does that count?!

Sorry but if an old impreza is all beat up with 100k+ miles on the clock and looking tired I do not regard it as a 'nice car'. As sad as it may seem a lot still has to be said for the value of a vehicle.
That's why I get annoyed with all the peeps that come on here with claims of how their tarted up 'whatever' thrashed a scooby. So what!!! For the money I spent making the VTS - scooby switch I could have turned the VTS into an total scooby killer. Fancy suspension and a supercharger as minimum. I could then trash scoobs from the lights and come on here about how my little saxo beat the Impreza. So what, it would have zero long term reliability and the car would be virtually worthless in such a state of tune.
It's like our 12 second 1/4 mile boys telling Porsche 911 turbo drivers that their scooby is just as good cause its as fast......er.....no the porka is way better and way more expensive!!

It's gonna happen regardless of the car being driven. "we" are seeing as cars are more affordable to the younger people now.
hmm, think I'm too old to be a boy racer, but I do have the care and the baseball cap for it

It's not necessarily true though.I drive my pulsar pretty*cough*quickly but it's off the road for the next few months and I'm currently piloting a 1.4 escort runabout.I just can't be bothered to even try and drive fast/like a **** as there's no point.I will just crash the shed and kill myself/other people.
It's also giving me more perspective as to why people pull out on me on roundabouts/junctions-you need loads more time to execute most maneuovres in normal cars.

There seems to be this theory that fast means better! The a porka, Ferrari, aston, etc are all about the complete package (speed, image, handling, quality, toys, etc) You can make a scooby very quick in a straight line and it'll turn heads with it aggressive looks but it won't turn heads for the same reasons as a 360 or 911 turbo.
Likewise you can make a nova quicker than a scooby but I know which car I'd rather have.....if you see my point

Sorry m8 - what would be the point of the normal driving test then.
If you are a tw*t then you will be a tw*t whether you have advanced driving or not. Most tw*ts pass their driving test and then have licence to become a fully fledged road using tw*t.
Driver skill & understanding are not the problems. Driver maturity and responsibility are.
On goes the baseball cap, crop top by my side as I roar off into the sunset. Well rain - I am on the west coast of scotland.
Alas

Jza, with you on that point. I have had some funny looks when I get out of the car, people tend to think 'boy racer'. I've had a few who have actually come over to me, and once we've chatted they realise that I'm not a onw of the MPB and that I just like my car.

There is a few around the stoke area, one in particular a white wrx with a baseball cap nailed to his thick scull that I saw doing at leas 80 in a built up area weaving in and out of traffic tyres a skidding and screeching.
Its an early type ra (I think) spoke to him once and he clearly has no brains at all, speaks like Kevin from harry enfield, but with lots of F***ing this and F**ung that.
One of the reasons I sold the scoob, as toss pots like this give all you decent Scooby drivers a bad name, glad to say I know more cool Scooby drivers than tossers (at the moment)

Oops - maybe I won't buy one after all.
Nah, got to be done. I can find that baseball cap somewhere - in fact I think I even have a flat cap kicking around, is that worse?
On stereo-types...
MPV drivers
SUV drivers
Merc drivers
BMW drivers
Volvo drivers
School run drivers
add your own expletives to the above.
Lets face it every type of car/driver is reviled by someone else, usually after they have been annoyed by them in some way.
Anybody for a group buy on roof mounted rocket launchers?

Saxo boy,
you seem more obsessed with the car's image than with the car itself.
Who cares why peoples heads are being turned?
I would not want people to look at me and think rich fckuer.
I am hoping one day to buy a 355, and it is being looked at like that which puts me off.
