Which Service???
#1
My car is due for a service next month. It has 33k on the clock and it will be three years old in October 2002.
It suppose to go in for the 37.5k service, but the dealer has recommended the 45k (3yr) cambelt service.
I might have the 37.5k service done and do the cambelt in 6 months time.
I only manage to clock up 5k P.A.
Will this effect any future claims on the extended Subaru Warranty?
Or Should I play it safe and go for the cambelt change?? As I dont want the camblet to break and bugger up my engine.

My car is a MY00 and is coming up for its 2 year service shortly, however the car has only covered 14,500 miles.
I will be going for the full 2 year service, rather than just an intermediate one.
IMHO if I were you I would go for the full service including the cam belt.

Well the 30k is on 2 years, so 37.5k is 30 months and 45k on 3 years (36 months). Mine is coming up to 2 years old so needs the 30 month service even though its only done around 7.5k miles.
IanW - got a price for the 30k service yet so I should know what to expect? Was thinking around £300. Looked at TSL but could not justify their £459ish price tag + fuel to get there and back (180 mile round trip).

Simon - Been quoted a price of around £380 mark inc VAT (before SIDC discount).
Vinesh - when IM specified the cambelt change at 3 years / 45,000 miles it would have been done for a reason, I would personally get the cambelt done just in case. Also if you did not have it changed and it did fail on you, the chances of getting any warranty company to pay out will be slim to none, as you ahve not kept to the manufacturers recomended servicing intervals.

Im with Ian on this one,
Its just not to do with how many miles you do but also that the rubber deteriorates with age.... plus all that heat etc will weaken it over time and they are basically saying that they cannot guarantee that it will be safe over 3 years....
(look even tyres only have a 10yr life expectancy from manufature!)
